Adios to all the good people on the Class C forum!

You gave me TONS of good information and helpful hints. You shared your "oops" moments, so that I didn't make the same mistake. We enjoyed 10 years of sightseeing vacations, without having too many mishaps!

But alas - we've sold our beloved and trusty 28' Gulf Stream Conquest ๐Ÿ˜ž I admit I'll shed a few tears when the new owners pick it up this weekend. Of course, as I'm cleaning out our belongings, I'm reminded of all the fun trips and amazing places we've been.... but 10 years has seen us slowly turning towards being Snowbirds - at least for a month...LOL! And since we're staying in one place for a longer time (and own a diesel F-350 for our business anyway) - it's kind of a no-brainer to own a 5th wheel trailer, whose massive slideout makes an enormous difference in spaciousness. Bottom line - we don't really need 2 largish RVs. And since we have the truck anyway - I bought a popup truck camper for a few weekends camping in the rustic Forest Service campgrounds that my kayaking friends like to use. The Class C was simply too tall to venture into those.

The new owners like the little upgrades that have been done to our MH - most of those great ideas came from right here...LOL!

So thank you, to all of you. I'll pop in from time to time, to help other newbies. I'm not going away - just changing my mode of RVing ๐Ÿ™‚

Deb and Ed M - My brother-in-law did the drive a Super C to SW Arizona for the winter, then back North for the rest of the year (Snowbirding). After about 4-5 years, He decided to trade for a shorter Class C and purchase a "Park Model" mobile home at the park. The travel down and back was less expensive than the Super C, but still had the advantage of a motorhome. The shorter Class C was easier to drive as well. The Park Model had more room than the Super C for the 4 months in Arizona. ๐Ÿ˜„

Having had a TT, and have switched to my current Class C, I agree. But its more than that. Ever been in a 3 hour traffic jam where you creep along while 5 lanes merge into one? Its great to be able to get a snack, get a drink and use the potty.

We were headed home on I-75, and became stuck at a standstill for 5 hours while a fatal motorcycle accident was being investigated. Yes, at those moments, a C (or an A) becomes priceless. We snacked, had some soda, and watched the news (which was how we knew why we were stopped).

Looking off into the future (God willing) - I can see us retiring (and no longer NEEDING that big pickup truck), and at that point, probably going back to a C or Super C with a slideout.

Amen to that!!!!!!

As far as camping goes, I will either camp, somehow, until my body gives out; or they invent a Hoyer Lift for RVs ๐Ÿ˜‰

We took our inaugural snowbird trip last winter in our Class C.
It was 3 months in length and we had a great time.

Before the trip we had a few concerns in doing it given the size of our rig but it worked out great, both in amount of storage space and living area.

Looking forward to doing it again this winter.

Enjoy your trip this winter and your pop-up adventures next summer.

I like your plan, I really do. For now we are very happy with our small C as a one size solution. But I could see having a fiver for snowbirding and a popup TC for getting out in the sticks.

I do have to admit, that as we were returning from Florida last January, and having been caught in the infamous Ice storm in northern GA (OMG); then camped in single-digit temps near Nashville when the power went out in our RV park at 5 am.... (yeesh!) I looked at the 5er with my headlamp as we were trying to pack up in the dark/bitter cold and said "I sure wish you were the motorhome!!!!"

There's a lot to be said for firing up the genny, making some coffee, having breakfast; then leaving at our leisure after the "arduous" process of unplugging the electrical cord....LOL!

Don't forget the more general forums. Most problems and questions are not limited to a specific type of RV. Many of us subscribe to several forums, not just the one for the RV type that we happen to own.
