All electric

I am looking at a tiffin pheaton that is all electric. Who has one and what do you think about all electric verses propane. Thanks for all info.

If it has an induction cook top, Aqua Hot heat, 800 AH of batteries, 3000W PSW inverter and a 10K generator I would not worry about it being all electric. Even when boondocking with a gas refer you have to run the generator 1-3 hours per day starting it when using the microwave or coffee maker instead of using the batteries.

About the only reason we went with LP is the DW had to have a blue flame for cooking. :W It don't have a regular oven, but she never used it to much anyway previously.
I was also concerned with the AH system. Seems like I read a bunch problems with them along with annual maintenance.
Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate buying a all electric coach.
  • Does the Pheaton come with adequate batteries? What elec use is required for the RR. I have heard that most RR use very little elec. Would adequate batteries make it fine for boondocking?
  • Add lots of solar, put in an LI chemistry battery bank, and you will be fine.
  • If you don't boondock and often just find yourself plugging in or running a genny, the all electric isn't so bad. Propane in honesty CAN be a bit of a hassle sometimes. It is nice to plug in and that's it. However, water will take longer to heat and you may find yourself maxing out that 50 amp.

  • Sunny, all electric coaches have been out for a while. Our first coach (2008 Dynasty) we had it built to be all electric. The reason I wanted all electric is that we only had to worry about one fuel source (diesel).

We rented previously and needed to return the coach with all full fuel tanks (Diesel and Propane). Not all fuel stations carry propane and it was a pain in the butt trying to find a place. That cured me right there on worrying about propane.

We had a diesel fired furnace/hot water (Aqua-Hot) and a diesel generator. If we were boondocking, I needed to run the genny a couple of hours in the morning (during breakfast) and a couple of hours during the evening (dinner)..... very easy to maintain the 8 house batteries that we had.

Our new coach is set up in a similar fashion except we have Lithium Ion technology (3 Li house batteries) with four 3,500 watt inverters. When boondocking, it's the same procedure, a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours during the evening.

    MM.
  • I have seen a few in the RV lots. My question would be max power consumption? Or how much could you get by with? Sure think you would have to be in a 50 amp RV park. Suppose in a few years RV parks will be 100 amp service if that is the trend. Many times on 50 amps I have to put my water heater on gas if both A/Cs are running and DW is using hair dryer, coffee pot, or microwave.
