We have a 2014 Pleasure Way Pursuit that is generally very well built and handles well. However, we have noticed an odor near the entry door on the passenger side of the RV, near the kitchen sink. We only smell it when the Fantastic Fan is running. Of course, at least one window would be open in this case. We can't smell it with the AC running or with the windows open and the vent fan turned off. All the black water system is on the driver side and we don't smell it in the bathroom. I have crawled under the RV and don't smell anything. The fan seems to be pulling in contaminated air from somewhere. Any ideas? I will appreciate any feedback.

I would check and replace the air admittance valveslocated near your sinks,they are cheap and can be found at most big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes as well as smaller hardware stores. If they fail they will let the smell from the grey tanks in and believe me they can smell just as bad as the black tank if not worse.Changed mine out and the smell was gone!

Is it a poop smell or an ammonia smell?

IAMICHABOD's suggestion is excellent, I never knew about this thing. I'll bet this valve under the kitchen sink has a tiny leak that the fan pulls in when it is running. I had the dealer fix it under warranty last year but haven't tried it yet. We will know next week when we take our first trip this year up to the hill county for a few days to make sure everything works OK before heading to Florida in March to Astros spring training. The air admittance valve on our unit failed when it was only a few weeks old. Pee-yew! It smelled horrid. I picked up a new one at Lowes, and had it swapped out in about five minutes. No more stink! Pull the old one out and take it to the store with you. Make sure the threads are the same, and you're good to go as soon as you screw the new one in. I'd put a little Teflon tape on the threads, but it's not really necessary as long as you snug it up.

Make sure you have liquid in the P traps. Don't forget the shower drain which is a common one to go dry from lack of use.

X3 Have had quite a few folks that had an odor that disappeared after simply adding water to all the drains.

Mine are under the sinks. Follow the drain lines, they should have a tee and follow the line up. The valve is usually as high as possible under the sink. Mine barely has enough room to turn it out. Teflon tape will help seal and also provide a little lube for the threads.

First check 'all' your p-traps and made sure they are filled with water.

If you let your RV sit for lengthy times the water evaporates in the p-traps. Make sure all sink drains AND the shower drain are filled.

The usual smelly culprit is the bathroom sink that usually dumps into your black tank that can emit some really nasty odors if the p-trap is not filled.

Gray tanks can smell as bad as a black tank.
Dump the gray and add a bottle of lemon cleaner fill with water and dump again.

And of course make sure there is water in the toilet bowl at all times.

Don't know how your RV is built, but if you have an void area underneath, there could be a dead rodent. When the fan is turned on, the smell is pulled out.
