Auto Park Brake Light

97 Bago Vectra Auto Park Light

System can be heard disengaging and does work when put in PARK. However light stays on when put in drive and I travel. I did check fluid in reservoir. Replace the actuator cylinder lest than a year a go.

OK, first order of business is to change out the green or brown switch and they are both the same. If that doesn't put your light out, then keep the old one on board for a spare. Next, change the gray one and again, keep the old one if still good.
If you still have fluid and especially if you can hear the pump stop after a few and not not keep recycling, then I'm guess that's it's just the gray light pressure relay, which is all it does. Turn the light off and on, that is.
So, key on, engine off, go from P to R, N, or D and whereas you should hear the pump come on and then stop, as soon as it makes pressure, thereby releasing the brake.
Remember the drive shaft parking brake is DEFAULT ON and the high pressure pump must run to release the powerful spring that engages this brake.
Again, there's no one on the planet that knows more than Roger about an AP. He will be more than glad to help, along with sending you a wealth of info for your files.
  • Following is info I previously received from Roger Oldusedbear.

The Rotten Green Switch is # 15961566.

The Rotten Brown Switch is # 15034355

The above two switches are interchangeable. Buy the cheapest and most readily available one. Both are used for the pump/motor switch position.

The other pressure switch is called simply The Light Switch. It is # 10218778, and is gray in color.

All three of these switches have multiple possibilities regarding source. Chev, GM, Workhorse all tend to be more expensive. NAPA, Carquest etc. may or may not have them in stock or at a good price. Best prices seem to be eBay and Amazon.

We highly recommend carrying a spare pump motor switch and a spare Light Switch. They are often not "locally available."

The NAPA part nbr for the relay is AR282.
  • Search out a fella named old used bear (Roger)
I think he is over at IRV2.com

Also search this website for possible answers. Tons of info at both places regarding this issue.
  • Am having similar issues with mine. I just got a 2001 Georgetown, now am doing the research that should of done before and am really afraid of driving the rv. I feel I can't enjoy the ride cause all this issues are on my mind, looking to changing it to a manual system.
