Banks Exhaust System Cracks

Has anyone had the banks Exhaust system crack? While having service performed at Redlands Rv, they noticed a hairline crack in one of the exhaust pipes.

Interested in hearing from anyone with a similar problem.

Thanks,

Darryl

That should be an easy location to swap in a replacement crossover. I'm sure Banks will send you whatever parts you need (they were great about sending me new gaskets).

That said.... might want to check out your motor mounts and exhaust hangers. I wouldn't expect that part to crack unless something is moving more than it should.

  • I know of 2 people personally that have experienced cracks on their Banks headers.....it usually occurs on the air tubes.......both cases a simple weld job fixed the problem......
  • Should be easy to weld back up. Any chances it takes direct hits when you drive through puddles?
  • Redlands RV has a pretty good reputation so I doubt that they are trying to scam you.
  • No cracking on mine. Mine has been on for about 280,000 miles, and my V10 runs extra hot with the aggressive tune I have installed.

I did have lots of trouble with the donut gaskets cracking, and the flanges warping (the ones at the collectors) so I had that connection welded up solid.
  • Our 99 has the system and no issues. If you are the one whom put it on then if cracked it should be in warranty.
  • My Banks is still like new, are they talking about the headers or exhaust pipes, you should be able to crawl underneath and inspect to make sure your not being ripped off..
