Banks System?

My 2000 Fleetwood Bounder with Ford V10 is running fine but now has 50,000 miles on it. Should I be considering an overhaul and if so do you think I should spring for the Banks System? I realize I may be a little paranoid but I can't stop worrying about being stranded with an engine failure.
  • Blackstone x 2. Parts of the banks system like improved exhaust and intake do work. Messing with the brain of the coach spooks me some. Also when I last traded my dp for a newer dp I was asked if it had been "chipped". The sales person (I'm sure a totally reliable source of information) said that they did not except chipped rigs as trade ins without price reduction because of reliability issues.
  • Send oil samples for testing to Blackstone or other lab and if really concern, run compression check. That will tell you a lot about engine condition.
    Banks do improve engine performance.
Usually owners enjoy the extra power, but extra power cost fuel.
Would you stay with the same speeds/accelerations you should notice mpg gain. Will it be worth the investment?

Why do you think you need an overhaul? If you are concerned about reliability you should be running Mobil 1™ Extended Performance 5W-20 with a M1-210filter. If taken care of that engine should last past 300,000 miles.
What Banks products are you looking at?

  • Banks systems just fit right. They actually work. They will increase HP and performance. They will NOT give better fuel mileage. You won't be disappointed in the results.
  • An overhaul at 50,000? I'd be highly upset if I had an engine that needed an overhaul before 200,000. Of my 3 daily drivers the one with the lowest mileage has 156,000 on it.
My truck for hauling my camper has 203,000 on it. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in it and go anywhere.
  • If maintained correctly you should be fine for another 15 years at that mileage per year rate. Banks makes some good stuff, some is questionable.
And Azusa is only about 10 miles from my birth place :W
  • Add a 100,000 miles to that V10 before you worry about it.
Banks makes good stuff. You will probably enjoy the added power.
I put my Banks Power Pack on 10 years ago. It fit perfectly and has needed NO attention.
