basement heater

Looking at this unit HEATER

Contacted Monaco about getting all the factory components and not sure I need to spend that much money right now. I have the wiring from the inside control panel down to the water bay and think it would be a good replacement for the factory one from Monaco.

What are your thoughts
  • That is a 12v heater. Is your failed heater 12v or is it a 120v AC heater? If you need a 120v heater Walmart has several that are quite inexpensive or as someone suggested use a low watt light bulb. I use a 25w light bulb in my water compartment when winter stored.

  • You might want to check on the wire gauge going to the compartment. A quick check indicates that if the wire is about 15 feet long (just a guess on length) it will need to be 6 gauge to have an acceptable voltage drop (3 percent).

Unless you are hooked to shore power or going down the road, that 12V heater is going to kill your batteries really fast. Many use a 100 watt light bulb even putting it on a Tstat.
