I know there are a lot of post on this subject over the net. Need 4 rear tires 255/70r22.5. I would like your opinions on the following, I will list what I have found on the net and price in my area:BF Goodrich ST-230: $385 Seems to be a good all-around tire. Many dealers in USA. Own by Michelin. All position tires. Tread seems to be better for traction. Are they smooth tires?Yokohama RY-023: $386 Some are very happy, many say they are as smooth as Michelin, but some say they have tail wagging with them.Kumho Krs02: $320: All position, some are very happy with it, smooth tire. They have 21/32 tread, will this affect MPG a lot? Do they have many dealers in USA?Michelin: Too pricey for me $530, and I see too many complains about cracking.Goodyear: I have them right now 1: Too pricey, $520, and 3 of them developped bad rivering.Cooper: I have too new Cooper RM120 up front, had a blowout on my GY in the middle of nowhere and did not have much choice, but I am happy with them so far, made in China, they are not available in or near my hometown.Thanks

I know its not directly related but I'm replacing my trucks P rated tires with LT E rated tires. For me it came down to either the BF Goodrich or the Yokohama. When I couldn't decide which, I asked the teck at Discount tire and he instantly said go with the BF Goodrich. They were also a little cheaper on top of it.

In answer to your question: I do not have any of the tires you inquired about on my RV but I have Goodrich tires on my Dodge 3/4 ton diesel pickup. I have gotten 50,000 miles on each of three sets and they are superb. On my RV, a 36'DP I went to Bridgestones after the original Goodyears began to all develop "rivering" issues. I bought the Bridgestones because of the recommendation of a friend who put them on his DP RV and was very happy with them. I have been very satisfied with them as well.

We have had B F Goodrich ST230's for over 5 years and have put over 60,000 miles on them with no problems. We replaced the original Toyos on our '04 DP. My husband is a former "tire guy" and complained about the Toyos cupping and bad ride. The B F Goodrich are a much better ride. We will replace them with more B F Goodrich next year. As you say, they are owned by Michelin and made in the USA. They were recommended by Pat at Pro Tire in Denton TX who has replaced many RV tires up to and including Prevost coaches.

I did not see many complains about the Goodrich, if any. I did not know Toyos where having cupping issues.

The OP has 19.5 tires and wheels...Prevosts have 22.5 tires and wheels. Big difference in tires and prices. I hope the OP is not shopping for tires based on price alone....BTW...MICHELINs are $361 ea thru FMCA...cheaper than Goodrich or Yokies....Dennis

I am tempted by Yoko's. About GY, I just talked to my in laws which had a truck fleet for a while, he says he had many problems with GY, rivering was one and tire separation was the other. He was saying that separation causes big trouble as it damages everything around the wheel. So no more GY or retread tire for him.

I am also trying to find more info. on Goodrich which is owned by Michelin, but what does this mean? Do they use the same techniques, are they as smooth as Michelin, but, and this worries me, do they develop cracking?

I installed the Yokohamas RY023 (16 ply) on our MH a few years back. I am extremely happy with the ride. I could not wait to get ride of my GY's that were "rivering" and causing an extremely bumping ride.

I was quote another tire today, $380 for a Dunlop 348. Now the choice is getting pretty large.

For what it's worth, we put Toyo's on our MH. Got them through Les Schwab, had the Goodyears on before that. I think the Toyo's ride smoother. We've put 3000 miles on them so far. We have the 19.5 tires, don't know if Toyo makes 22.5".

Here is a good Website for pricing on tires, it gives a good starting point. I talk to an old trucker and he says he never had problems with BFGoodrich and they have service all over North America.

I am leaning toward BFG, good price, good tires, good service.

Kumho has a good price, Yoko and Goodrich are a bit higher, $200 more for 4. Bridgstone are like $500 more for 4 tires. I see there are many people happy with all sort of tires.

And I totally agree with Jwmll, how can someone say that you are putting others life at risk with Chinese or Asia tires, this is a very broad statement. Just because you have motorhome does not mean you have to spend more than you have to on tires. Big trucks put on all sort of tires on their rig, and they do not put peoples life at risk, otherwise the government would take a step to remove these company from the market.

There are good tires from all over the world, not just from USA, and Michelin is from France.

I have the Kumho brand Longmarks on the RV and will attest to their value. They are strong tires and hardly seem to have worn after several years and quite a few miles. I'd go with that brand again if I ever needed a fresh set of tires.

Kiddo, I replaced 10 year old Yokohama 255/70r 22.5 tires last July for $400 each balanced and installed with new stems. Sold the old tires for $450. No problems whatsoever in 10 years.

I checked all the tires and prices, what I found is the Bridgestones, were the only tire anyone stocked in my size. Wanted Michelin, I could not find 6 anywhere without waiting at least a week to get the Michelin shipped in. I called a lot of places, same story, lots had maybe 1 or 2, and mine is a very common 22.5 tire. Didn't like the wait time on tires, and don't like to mismatch tires.
