Bizarre Electrical Issue: Compartments lock themselves

Hi,
I just put my batteries back in my 2003 Itasca Horizon 40AD and now I have a weird problem. Every 10 of so seconds the compartments lock themselves.

Here's what I know so far:
- I know which ground wire I can disconnect from the battery to stop it
- the compartment lock switch in the RV cabin works - will both lock and unlock the RV
- the remote control does not work, but didn't work last year either

I'm really struggling to determine how to diagnose this. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Darryl

If the security system is the issue, you may just have an aftermarket system installed. The PO of our coach must have had some issue with the OEM system as we now have a Python system installed which works just fine.

I'm not clear on what you mean. The system I pulled out and referenced about is the SCS system that came with this model of RV.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The security system that was originally installed on the coach was replaced with an aftermarket. I guess I was suggesting that you have alternatives when it comes for repairs.

I created an Excel spread sheet that all the pertinent info, serial numbers, engine number, trans number, Freightliner telephones numbers, Allison phone numbers, CAT phone numbers and more. I have the VIN and Coach Serial numbers on there too.

Now, when I try your referenced site with the Winnebago parts number look-up, I use the last 5 of my Coach Serial number and, it brings of an incorrect URL page. But, when I use the last 5 of my VIN, it goes right to a parts number list. Hmmmmmm. Not sure if that system is working correctly or not.

What I would do is go here with your Winne coach # (not the Vin, the Winnie number.)

You can pull a list of all the parts used to build your specific coach. Assuming no updates by owner(s) it will tell you which model you have.

How do I get my Winnie number?

On mine (other than the sales paperwork) it could be found on the "Incomplete vehicle" placard that is on my wall left of the driver's seat, and on a paper giving CCC weights etc that is on a wall inside a closet in the bedroom.

I was wondering if I could build my own remote.

At the end of the day all you're trying to do is wireless activate a 12V wire which in return activates a relay.

So why couldn't you use something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC12V-4CH-PR-Wireless-4-Channel-Remote-Control-Switch-stepper-Relay-Switch-Case-/321206509586

Buttons A and B could be set up to lock and unlock the door; buttons C and D could be setup to lock and unlock the compartments.

The downside is the keypad wouldn't work, and the other things like the lights wouldn't be controlled, but other than that, why wouldn't it work?

I'm actually not 100% of the part number.

When I look at the parts book for my specific year/make/model I get the following:
102756-03-000 EA KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - ENTRY DOOR & CARGO DOORS - W/REMOTE
FROM: 00-00-00 THRU: 05-09-04
151458-01-000 EA KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - ENTRY DOOR & CARGO DOORS - W/REMOTE
FROM: 05-10-04 THRU: 99-99-99

When I googled the vendor part number on the back of the security module () I found the following link:
http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/wincd/2010/r42ad_electric.pdf

And inside of it was 151458-01-700 MODULE BOARD - 4 FUNCTION

So I'm confused as to which part I really need . . .

That thread I posted has a lot of good info. If the part # is truly 151458 on yours, then you can replace with a newer Trimark system and an adaptor harness and it's pretty much plug-and-play (other than the cost.) If its older, then you will have to have a newer unit hardwired by a dealer.

There are no issues running without it; it is just the keyless entry. However, without it plugged in your door panel "Bay lock/unlock" switch probably won't work.

Thanks. Will look at this tomorrow.

I did check and the compartments still lock and unlock, so that switch must not go through the security module.

Good question. The problem is the antenna up warning light keeps flashing.

OK,
Pulled out the module completely.

The vendor module number is 202-3227

Found the Winnebago part number: 151458-01-700 MODULE BOARD - 4 FUNCTION

So any idea where to get a replacement? I'm pretty sure they don't make these any more.

I'm assuming there will be no issues running without this, correct? In other words, it doesn't do anything more than the keyless entry?
