My class A has the bathroom sink plumbed into the black tank as well. Kitchen & shower go to the grey.
Keep in mind, someone relatively unfamiliar with RVs may have simply tried to get the toilet to "flush" like a home toilet; ie LOTS of water used to rinse skid marks, etc. Yes, lots of water is desirable for trouble free dumping, but there is also such a thing as too much, especially with relatively small tanks found on most class Cs. Couple that with a bathroom sink plumbed into the black, letting the water run in the sink while washing hands and/or brushing their teeth...
However, I also agree that the floor has had to be wet for a significant amount of time for it to be as soft as the OP describes.
