Hello All,This may sound stupid, but I absolutely cannot remove my carbon monixide unit to replace the battery. The unit says to change out battery 5/11, Oops!!I am getting ready for a long trip through Wy and Yellowstone, so I really need to do this. There is a arrow saying counter-clockwise for removal, but I really turn hard and am worried I am going to take the base with it.Any Idea's, it is a 2006 Fleetwood 24DThanks in advance,Rick

Just an FYI, it's a "Co" detector. CO2 is carbon dioxide.

Yea, Glad we got that settled, still does not take my unit off the base!:h

Mine is a fairly hard rotation, less than 1/4 turn, then it comes off. It's pretty stiff and took me a little while to figure out.

Mine has a little plastic pin (1/2"?) that just pulls out to allow the unit to rotate in the base.

I had to push a tab on mine when rotated or something like that

Mine has a catch that has to be push in before turning.

And sometimes they are just stuck due to dirt/moisture/grime/heat.

Note: seeing as it's in a 2006 Rig I would get a new one.
The sensor material in CO and the LP Detectors has a self life (5-7 yrs.)
Yours is getting long in the tooth

Hi,

This probably comes under the heading of "Don't force it, use a bigger hammer".

Check the wobbly wide web for directions and an owners manual for the CO detector.

Just turn it counter clockwise, mine was tight too but it came loose.

On my 2006 Tioga the base is screwed onto the ceiling with 2 big screws that hold it on, pretty stout.............
