When I changed my 1999 F53 it was so tight that after I got the belt started, I had to crank the starter to get it fully on.

Thanks. What size is the tension nut? Will save my old body, from having to use trial and error method.

Thanks again

On mine it is not a nut. It is a square hole that a 1/2" drive wrench handle fits into.

Don't know about the Ford but on my WH chassis, I used a ratchet strap to hold the breaker bar to keep tension off of the idler pulley. This allows me to use both hands to position the belt and then I can release the spring loaded idler pulley once everything is in place.
