check engine lite

Have a 2005 32v southwind chevy 8.1 engine . the check engine light came on while on a trip. The code was a knock sensor left bank drove
with it on till needed to fill up with fuel. After filling up and about a 45 minutes later the lite went out...we were on a trip and after a week and on the way back lite came on again and same thing happen again stop for fuel and down the road about 45 minutes or so lite went out and remained off . someone suggested the fuel cap could cause this. code again was a knock sensor which was replaced 4 years ago.....

Your

  • chances are moisture in the tank sends a bubble up into a cylinder get some lucas fuel treatment run it see if it clears up
  • I doubt the fuel camp would cause knock sensor code.
I would say dirty combustion chambers or possibly fuel filter.
I would get some Chevron Techrolene(sp). Put enough in according to bottle(s). This should or has in my case cleaned the injectors, valves and plugs.
Next item would be a bad or failing coil pack.
