Class A Motorhomes

By title, this is a Class A Motorhome forum. I request that forum members put in their Profile the type of Class A Motorhome that they own. Or, I request that they place the type of Class A Motorhome that they own in the their signature. Why? Because I have observed or suspect by the responses to members posts that a significant number of posters own Fifth wheels, Travel Trailers, of other RVs other than a Class A Motorhome. The mindset of someone that owns other than a Class A Motorhome tends to make their posts worthless. So, if a reader of the posts knows that the member does not own a Class A Motorhome, then the OP or other reader can take the members post with a grain of salt and move on to other members post that are more relevant to the OPs post.

I am going to close this topic... Missed it earlier...

The OP is speaking for himself... There is no forum rule or requirement that folks have in their profile or signature anything they choose not to share...Period.

The class A forum is intended for class A rvers but not to the exclusivity of others...

There are some subjects where the most informed responses come from those with first hand class A experience. There are also a lot of topics where general RV experience and insight is equally valuable. Having said that there are a few topics where would be best served by those with direct experience.

Many who participate in the Class A who do not currently own a class A have in the past... I have owned and rved in a Tent camper, class B, Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel...My class A experience includes both Gasoline and Diesel Powered units. My point is that a significant number of folks on this forum have diversity in what they have owned and RVed with.

There are a lot of current Class A operators that regularly post in other RV type forums...

My last point is that if the OP or anyone feels that there is an inappropriate post then click the notify...

Careful, I used the term "off his meds" once and got moderated. :R

Everytime I log on I just click on the newest button and start reading. I love reading about all types of RVs. I may want to trade someday. I may trade up, or down, or sideways but by reading about them all I can see the good, the bad and the ugly about all of the different rigs. I spend a few nights every year in my tent while floating down a remote river in my kayak. To me that is a trade up from my old Class A.

LOG WROTE:
"Read the title and the intent of the forum's description. Class A Motorhomes. Members are asking help and information on Class A Motorhomes. Read some past members post and questions. Then read some of the replies. If members cannot understand the nature of why I am saying this, then that is one of the problems. A member ask a question about the depreciation on the purchase of a new $250,000 Class A Motorhome or maybe the depreciation of a three year old Class A Motorhome. A member post that depreciation is not an issue. The member did not say what type of RV they owned. It would be helpful to know if the member that post had a five year old $20,000 travel trailer."

By the same token the owner of a 2004 Foretravel, may not have the knowledge and expertise to assist the owner of 2013 American Heritage. Be careful what rocks you throw.

Not often you see more or less unanimous opinions on something. LOG, thank you for rallying all the people of RV.net against your elitism. Pretty rare to see 5 pages of everyone agreeing. I applaud you sir. Takes a special kind of stupid then further doubling down on stupid to accomplish that.

Well! In all fairness Log does have a point. Why would a forum have different categories breaking it down to the types of coach you own. It makes sense to me that posts should be separate.

Wow! what a hot topic though, huh? As a footnote to my above post, I like to call all RV's, from pop-ups to the highest end class A super coaches such as a Newell, "rigs". They are all RV's and by calling them rigs there is no implied class warfare from one to the other.

Wow! I thought we always had entertainment over on the Truck Camper forum. I can now be doubly entertained by paying more attention over here.

Back in 2011 my refrigerator did not work correctly on my new Lance truck camper. I borrowed a part from my 2003 5th wheel refrigerator and it worked as it was designed. The refrigerator was under warranty, but the nearest warranty service center was 90 miles away so I repaired it myself.

Some systems are the same, some are different. There are 5th wheel RVs that have automatic leveling systems. The Cummins diesel in a Freightliner that pulls a large 5th wheel RV is much like the Cummins diesel engine in the Class A.

I suggested over on the truck camper forum that one of the OPs needs to read How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. He wasn't interested in winning friends, but was sure interested in influencing people. I don't think he read the book.

I like the idea of getting opinions from all walks of RV'ing. I could almost understand the OP's point when it comes to some of the technical issues of a class A vs. other types of RV's, but the class A forum is about a whole lot more than just the rigs themselves. Questions of finance and mark-up, on tires, dealers, campgrounds, mileage etc. and on and on have nothing really to do with any particular type of rig. I probably read this forum more for the "other" stories of adventure and experiences than I look for technical info. In my profile I have listed that I own a Georgetown 330TS. If I really need tech and systems questions on Georgetown's, I would post on the Forest River Forum to reach other GT owners anyways. Based on the OP's point of view I guess we shouldn't view other sections of this forum either. I personally like to join in the General Discussion forum from time to time because as far I'm concerned, its all about camping and the RV lifestyle that I find very entertaining, especially in the cold Western New York winter, that scratches my itch to get out there and enjoy the lifestyle.

The problem lies with how some navigate into/through the posts.

I navigate using the forum tree which shows the different forums, so I don't have to click into any forum I'm not interested in.

However, using the Newest link in the blue bar on top of the screen, it will show you the newest post made on the page independent of what forum it was posted in. The forum is listed on the far right column, but most people will read the topic title and click in without even making it that far.

Regardless, I fail to see where anyone input is worth less because they don't own the same type of RV another does. In most cases, a lot of the systems between a class A and a towable are the same.

Oh my. And I have been sleeping in Holiday Inn Express's for naught.

But, thankfully, I own a Class A and a Truck Camper. I did sell my 5th wheel last year and donated my travel trailer to a church camp two years ago. I have never owned a Class B or C but will stay out of those forums - well, maybe.

I haven't posted much over here or anywhere else.

I do believe I could tell you more about your diesel pusher engine than most people would know, but my Class A is a V-10 gas burner. I know more than just what I own.

A lot of us here do have our rig's model/year/manufacturer in our siggy or profile. However, it is not "required" by the forum moderators/creators to do so. And, there is no reason for it to be.

I think it is plum silly to expect everyone to post such info unless an OP has a question about a problem they are having with whatever their RV is! Then and only then should a poster need to give that info!

Does that mean...if any of us also ventured into one of the other forums here we must "prove" we have a pet to visit the pet forum, we are great cooks to visit that section, we are "well anything" to visit any other pages?

This forum has so many wonderful sub-forums to visit, all free for any of us to join in any conversation we want...and many of us do visit more than one forum and love it!

Just relax and enjoy!
