Class C Dingy towing

Reinforcing your receiver will NOT help the fact of TOWING/PULLING that extra weight.

I tow a 2,800 lb car and trust me you DO know it's back there when pulling the grades and/or even small hills. And I have a V-10.
Less is always better regarding a toad unless you want to fight the extra weight thru out your camping trips. :W

Don't forget to keep the combined weight below the GVWR. Oops, that should be GCWR. Actually, both. Watch out for heavy reinforcements.

There is no such thing as tongue weight with a dingy. The tow bar is hinged at both ends. It weighs about 40#, some supported by the dingy, some by the MH. The capacity is whatever the weight of the vehicle is when it is being towed. That includes anything in the vehicle.

My 2011 Motorhome Mag Dinghy Towing Guide says the Acadia can be towed. The speed is limited to 65 mph and it says "Run engine at the beginning of each day and at each fuel stop for 5 minutes. Remove 15-amp ECM fuse and 50-amp BATT1 fuse while towing." It also says it weighs 4720-4925 lbs.

It looks like the base weight of the Acadia is a little under 5,000#. It also looks like a 2005 31M was rated to tow 3,500#, while that was upgraded to 5,000# in the 2009 model year.
I believe you could go to a good metal fabricating, hitch builder/installer, to make any modifications the chassis would need, including replacing the hitch and beefing up the frame to enable the MH to tow the additional weight.

does your motorhome have an extended/weakened frame running back to where the receiver is located?
at 31 ft, I would guess so. and probably rated for 3,500 lbs.

Yup x2 on the weight of that vehicle.

Also you can find if a car is towable right in the owners manual under the chapter called 'recreational towing'. It will say right there if it can be towed 4 down or a dolly is needed.
