Hi, I am going to buy a 30`ish class A or c this spring. Where we camp there is about 15 miles of gravel road. It is easily passable by car just gets washboardy. I am looking for opinions as to what wouls stand up better to this kind of use a class c or A??

We went the class A route, 25' on a E-450 chassis. &k miles so far mostly boondocking. Never liked the class C we had, the overhead bunk blocked to much of your view.

I would say C, it's a truck chassis, and get a good model for Canada. Do not expect lite, light, or anything other than heavy and solid will do the job.

Speed is your only protection. Don't. It will be a royal pain but the only, and I do mean only, way to avoid damage from the road surface is to just go slow. It'll either be that or reattaching the cupboards when you arrive..and get back home. One thing might be to drop the air pressure in your tires, but then you run the risk of stone punctures. Plus you will need to have a compressor with you.

Another thing to be aware of is the dust that will get all over everything. It will get in thru any small opening and by the time you get your 15 miles in? and out, eh....There are ways to mitigate the dust..maybe. Your RV will likely have one or more Fantastic Fans. You can reverse the air flow so rather than sucking out..blowing in, thus creating a positive pressure inside. But really? just plan on devoting a couple hours to doing a thorough clean. Put the bedding and clothing in large plastic bags.

As far as A or C? You need to decide which design works for your family.

Where do you like to go?

To get to my home you have to travel about 3 miles of gravel road which sometimes has the washboard surface. I can usually dodge by driving in the middle or sometimes on the wrong side (not much traffic if time of day is timed right). In a vehicle of a certain weight you can go at a certain speed and not have much trouble going over washboard. But in a heavy RV (A or C) their is no speed but very slow, so slide over if someone gets behind you.

IMO, 6 of one and a half dozen of the other. Take your pick as you will be traveling slow on the washboard.
Boon-docking you will probably want more batteries or Solar so consider the GVWR of each.
