Class C quality

We have a '07 Winnebago Outlook 29B (purchased used) which we like and has served us well the past two years. We are also perpetual lookers, and have looked at new & used Winnebagos and other brands with a better floor plan. I'm amazed at all the bells and whistles than come with newer models (even mid-level priced ones). At the same time I worry about quality control issues that are hidden by the pretty cabinets and fancy flooring. Should we stay away from other popularly-priced ones that have better floor plans than the tried and true Winnebago. Of course Winnebago quality may not be the same as earlier units. Any information would be helpful.
  • Just a little information on the Winnebago's... we have a friend who is the head mechanic at the Blu Dog RV that is close to us, and we've decided to get a Minnie Winnie in the future. He has told us that of all the RV's he's worked on in the past 20 some years, he would buy a Minnie Winnie before any other class C. Better structurally than the Forest Rivers, Thor, Jayco, etc etc... that is his opinion, but it's a good one.
  • The main drawback to the 29b is the small kitchen, but it is only 30' long so that's to be expected. The bedroom with slide is very good with lots of storage for clothing. The newer model Winnies and other brands perhaps strike a better balance between kitchen and bedroom storage. Also, you see options like electric patio awnings, leveling systems, and sideview of traffic using backup monitor. My concern is that quality may be sacrificed in newer models of all brands as customers focus on cosmetic appeal and options.
  • Just curious what you don't like about your floor Plan? (I went to rvtradervand looked at one and I really like it.) Winnebago would be easier for us because we live 2 hours from their factory. We are also looking seriously at buying a new CL C in a couple years. Going to Hershey in Oct to see up close many RVs.
