I have pavers on my South Florida driveway and they are holding up very well. I have 6" compacted stone base with the pavers set on top in sand. The advantage of pavers beside their looks is that they will not crack, as concrete often does. I have very slight settling where I drive my 43,000 pound coach over them, but you really have to look to see it. The preparation is all important. Enough stone base, and enough compacting, and the pavers won't settle, won't crack, and they look great.
