Given your posts I suspect that the failure was not due to low voltage. However given the techs input you might want to have the SG checked.

Even though I have the 30 amp version installed, I still ALWAYS check polarity and voltage with a handheld tester before plugging in, but I am a belt and suspenders kind of guy.

Just hooked up this afternoon in Yuma, AZ and checked the surge guard mentioned above from Camping World. Mine is hardwired but the same thing.
The power on one leg did not show at all and I had a blinking warning light. Checking the post with a meter I had one good leg and one with 32V. The next site down had similar issues as did the group across the street (no one is in Yuma this time of year!). I found one good box a few sites away and we are good but I sure would have been in for a surprise had I not installed the EMS a year or so back.

I would say more likely the compressor run cap just failed. This would bring the compressor to a stall. Then the start cap circuit will keep trying to restart untill it fried itself and its wiring from the heavy current. Low voltage yes,but less likely.
However I'm wondering why the compressor thermo protection didn't seem to work.

I suspect the park voltage was low, but not low enough to trip your surge guard.

TRC surge guards trip below 102V and I think the Progressive units are a volt or two above this.

IMHO, in both cases, the TRC and Progressive units allow your RV to operate at voltages that are too low, especially for motors.

Get yourself a voltage regulator (TRC's, Power Master, or Hughes).

Most will boost voltage at least 10% which can save your a**.
