Cruise America's Extended Warranty Service Agreements

For all those folks that purchased a Cruise America previous Rental I wonder if you can advise if you purchased the Extended 5 year Power Train Coverage and the Extended 4 year Appliances Coverage? If not why not. Did you get the full Roadside Protection Plan from Good Sam or another company? Or did you not get roadside protection at all? Also, prior to taking possession did you have a professional RV inspection company do a comprehensive inspection of the unit and have CA mitigate anything negative in the report? This info is important to me as I am going to purchase a previous rental from Cruise America pretty soon out of their Orlando facility.

Much thanks to all for your help. It will save me a lot of worry.

I find that the El Monte refurbished rentals are approximately $10,000 more expensive for the same class, size, and year. It's good to know that most people who bought from CA and El Monte never had to use the extended warranty. Guess it would be good to have for the big ticket items like the engine, transmission, drive train, and generator. However, how many of these items fail completely and need to be replaced?

After scouring the Rental thread I have not come up with one owner that has used the extended warranty, seems that not many bought them.

There have been a few that used the warranty that was given free when they bought the RV.

On that note when I started the Rental Thread Both El Monte RV and Cruise America both had a 1 Year/12000 mile warranty, now Cruise America has only a 3 Month/3000 mile warranty unless you buy the extended one. That may be why they are pushing the extended one,as the did when I was looking.

El Monte still has their 1 Year/12000 mile warranty. Also when I purchased mine from El Monte RV I asked about an extended warranty, they told me that they did not push one because they used the same company that Cruise America used and had so many complaints about them that they stopped offering them, to much hassle.

As has already been stated here and a few other posts on the forum, they are huge money makers for them and most times they will deny the claim. As I found out on my previous RV,but that is another story.

Nearly bought one in 2016 but got talked out of it at the last minute. Once again interested and am financially in a little better position.

Extended warranties lean towards the seller.72% of extended warranties are never used. The ford and Chevy chassis are reliable and with scheduled consistent maintenance will go 300K miles.
Do you have extended warranties on your home appliances? How often do they go bad......

Disclaimer - I have never bought from Cruise America.

As with any extended warranty, make sure you understand the full list of eligibility requirements and exclusions, on the CONTRACT, not the brochure. I personally would consider it, as long as there's no gotchas on the contract, simply due to the prior usage and age on their units.

For how many units Cruise America sells, I really don't hear any complaints about their used units. On the contrary, they seem to have LESS problems than most NEW RVs. Partly because they have simpler, more robust builds, but also because they've also already common workmanship issues that come out of the factories.
