So are you saying you wouldn't participate in the cost of maybe $1,500 worth of ugrgrades/changes so you could pay too much for something else?

We are all speculating on what the dealers situration is, maybe he's buried in the costs, or has another buyer willing to take it As-Is and do the upgrades themselves.

Regardless my Grandfather would say this is tripping over dollars to save pennies or for about 2% of the total.

You offered, they declined, you didn't have a deal, it was not greed or anything else you want to pin on them, it was no deal, period.

I spent 26 years in the construction equipment business most of it in management on the retail side of the business and I do know the difference between a good deal and a good looking deal.
I bought the Tioga 25K (V-10 450)today and although I probably paid too much for it it is what I wanted. I played the dealer game and traded my '10 Rockwood 8285WS but I do not have to put up with tire kickers and loonies coming to my home during the sales process. I will sell my 'creampuff' (60K mi) '08 Silverado Allison Durmax xtended cab long bed and this will offset some of my cost as I 'bought this truck right'

I have a truck that has 3 yrs 50,000 mi warranty and a coach with 1 year warranty which I will use the heck out of so any deficiencies are evident under warranty.


I plan to enjoy this unit going to the 'Oprey (Nashville), Myrtle Beach as well as visiting relatives in Nova Scotia. I can now afford the ferry costs to go to Newfoundland.

So my philosophy is not to sweat the small stuff - Don't Worry Be Happy as I will never have to put water on my Cheerios. I know the sales manager is happy and the salesman is happy and I have the unit I wanted. Could I have ground out another reduction probably but I did not want to sit there all day or go back again as I have other things to do- that is not to say I have $ to burn but I am happy with the deal I made.

See you all down the road as I have my reservations made for Florida January 4 to February 16 and will do the rest of February and March as soon as the calendar (11 mos in advance)permits

Sounds like you are close to deal you can live with on the the new unit. Yes the dealer will make money on both ends of the transaction, it's the nature of the beast. Definitely go with the V-10, I would be surprised if you can even get the 5.4L in a 25' C as that motor has been replaced by the 5.0 or the 6.7. I loved the 5.4L in my 2006 F-150 for towing a 5K TT but for that class C the V-10 is a no brainer. You will love the 5 speed torque Shift tranny with full tow haul mode. Good luck! :C

yep, just figure it on start up costs. basically he made an offer, they refused, but unlike the thread title, there was no deal to fall thru. he just couldn't meet their price. I'm sure if the dealer could have made a buck on his offer they would have taken it.

and from the statement about cannot be done w/out my participation indicates to me that they would have worked with him on the cost of those items. but instead, picked up his toys and left.

From the numbers you're talking on the new unit, it looks like you're willing to throw away many thousands of dollars by paying way too much on that "deal".

I didn't see your previous post when I posted but it doesn't change much of anything.

They're going to make a whole bunch more money from you by selling you the new rather than the old used unit.

I want to clarify the fact that I made the offer on the Coachmen CONTINGENT upon receiving it with the new tires, vacuum, spare,brake controler and a couple of trim repairs

Thy came back wanting me to participate in the cost of these items. I DID NOT RENEG THEY COULD NOT MEET MY OFFER

I agree with Mich F on the price. That unit should be able to be bought in the mid-50's before trade allowance. I bought a 2014 Sunseeker for 38% off MSRP, before a wholesale trade allowance; there is a lot of margin in the small Class C prices as far as I can see.

Given the choice of 350 or 450 chassis, I believe I'd take the 450, although there are pros and cons either way. Really, your call.

sounds to me like you were asking for too much with those extras. what you made a deal on a price, then asked them for $1000 worth of extra stuff and you whine about them refusing it?

Bumpy, with due respect you do not know what the deal is. Would you like to ride on 6 year old tires? Maybe you do but I will not. Would you travel with out a viable spare? It was advertised as having a central vacuum - it is not there. There was a brake controller but it is not there now. Do you tow without braking ability?
