Dealing with Dealers on Prices

Have purchased several 5th Wheels over the years, and have always been able to work with Dealers to get 25 to 30% off listed MSRP. Does the same hold true for purchasing a Class C. Have recently sold 5th Wheel, and possibly going to a Class C. Any info would be appreciated.;

    Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that higher end vehicles got more than 35% markup I just meant that, relatively speaking, the lowest cost units get the lesser markup. I learned this from an e-book by Bob Randall, who was an RV salesman, and edited by Mark Polk: "The RV Buyers Survival Guide". I followed his bargaining advice and got the results he predicted.

    I agree that 25% from MSRP is readily attainable although foreign exchange has to be worked into the deal for us living in Canada. Based on my experience you can also deal more with certain units if you know what the dealer wants to move at that specific time.

    To improve your bargaining position you need to learn as much about the selling dealer and products as possible as well as the local and surrounding markets. I was not able to get any reliable dealer invoice costs for RV's so I did not have those facts going into the buying process.
  • I found this to be true. However you have to hang tough because they will get the profit back from you with the extended warranties and other such add-ons if you let them. Higher end vehicles have higher percentage markup to get MSRP. I also found that searching all the online RV sales for the new model I wanted revealed the discount possible as a couple dealers were advertising a very low price for the unit while most listed MSRP or more. It gave me the courage of my conviction when I went to my dealer.
  • Have seen this in the general RV forums. The discount from msrp.

    Sorry forgot the discount have seen people claim 40%
