Did it... Caught the corner of the slide with my noggin!

Been there and done that and won the bloody forehead ... be careful

On our last trip to Moab UT I was walking by the drivers side of our MH when the rear slide out jump out on front of me. Needless to say I wasn't expecting this unwarranted attack and ended up in the emergency room with 7 stitches. I took care of the slideout though. I installed noodles on all slides, if any of the slides attack again I'll be protected by the noodles (as long as I remember to put them on). My camping buddies had given me a safety helmet in the past but I truly believed that this MH would be a wee bit kinder to me that the last three. WRONG :B

Ha Ha, just did that last Sunday. Was getting the coach ready to move to another site and walked right into the damn thing..... No blood, not even a scar but is put me on my butt! My wife heard it inside the coach and went looking for ice but there wasn't any so she brought me a bag of frozen meatballs. I hit the side of the slide, I am trying to think of something that will work to make me remember that the slide is out. Any thoughts?

ITS in the BARN, why would you put on the noodles??????? I think that he will from now on no matter what.

you were lucky, four stitches in the crown of my head when I did that. Swim noodles are real cheap protection. BTW, watch out for the pin box too, long story, no stitches!

The noodles are a great idea but if I put a noodle on everything I've smacked, tripped, or banged into, it would look like I was towing a Thanksgiving Day Parade float down the road.

I'm sorry for your pain, OP. You can find less painful excuses to buy a bottle of JD.

Yuppers...been there done that but not as bad as you. We bought a swimming pool noodle, miter cut for the corners, then glued angles, cut slit down to the center. When we park we slide one over each corner and try to remember to remove them before we pull in the slides! It helps but...it is still easy to bump the head so we generally do pull in the slides before we do any work around the rig.

Well, I am a member of the 'hit-the-head-on-the-slideout-club' for sure. Luckily, it has only happened once and that was all I needed! Early in the purchase we were just outside Las Vegas at the Ghostown KOA. I was connecting the sewer, etc. and decided to disconnect the Honda.

I got up from the sewer bay and walked back towards the Honda not looking all the way up and cracked my head on the bedroom slide (it's a high slide, I could almost walk under it).... well, I hit the corner with my forehead and nearly knocked myself out. I fell to my knees and saw stars. I got back up holding my forehead and started the Honda to run through the gears before disconnect.

I went back inside, got a towel filled with ice and layed on the couch. My co-pilot came in after checking the office for information and said what happened to you? I said I hit my head on the slide. The next question was 'what happened to your knees?".... when I fell to the ground, I scraped my knees in the sandy gravel and I had blood running down to my ankles.

All I had was a cut on my forehead and it healed virtually with no scar. I have not hit my head since, so far.

Hitting your head can be really dangerous. Be careful out there!

OP here... Thanks for the "sympathy", suggestions and laughs. I drank the bottle of Jack Daniels and took a couple days off. My goose egg is tender. Had some symptoms of a slight concussion. Wound is closed. Going to have a scar below the hairline. Just another "door ding" from life.

I didn't cut it. i was watching a Blo...I mean Prevost and turned around and smacked the side, of the slide. Saw stars and planets too.

I had the bedroom slide out because of loading to get underway. Walked right into the lower corner of the slide. It was right at my forehead level. Scratched and a nice size goose egg. DW is still laughing. I have the slide covers but did not install them.
