Dometic Refrig

Have a Gulfstream 2007, my Dometic Refrig is freezing water, soda and eggs on the top shelve. For three years I operated the setting on #4 and a couple months ago the freezing started and I put it on 1 and still freezing. It is at Camping World at the moment for the frig and an A/C replacement( which they claim they are having a problem dealing with Dometic lately??)the tech says the temp is 42 degrees but water doesn't freeze at 42??? Does anyone know where the temp control is located. Is it in the control circuit board, I don't see anything on the fins?? Any help would be appreciated

I have no problem dealing with Dometic. I usually e mail them to get warranty auth and replacement parts and I get a response within 4 hours regardless. Doug

    Thanks Effy,
Camping World has recommended the fan. I just don't know what changed a couple months ago when this started. So, what controls the temp of frig and where is it located. I have a feeling it is in the circuit board. It doesn't seem to matter what setting I put it on the temp is the same, so something isn't working the way it used to??

It is not the circuit board. The Temp Thermister controls it. IF it is installed on the fins and you do freeze on temp 1, then replace the thermister. The inside temp of a RV refer will be 10 degrees warmer than the fin temp-----refer at 33 degrees, the fin temp will be 23 degrees. The thermister does NOT react to the actual air temp but the fin temp. Doug
  • Find your 'thermistor'.........it should be in a plastic clip attached to the right hand fin in food section.

It has probably fallen down and is laying in bottom of food section.

The 'thermistor' is the temperature sensor that controls the cycling of fridge (electric or propane).
If it falls down off of fin then fridge cools and cools and cools regardless of what temp setting you use.

RV Tech should have put it back in place.

And a fan inside to circulate the air does help even out the cooling areas in food section

Different parts of your refer will be different temps. Next to the fins things will freeze, further below in a bin or on the door they may not. have you tried a fan to move the air around? I think that's the best approach to getting a uniform temperature.
