Driver side window replacement

I have a 1996 Georgie Boy Cruisemaster and I need a window for the drivers side.
It has three separate glass, one on top, one solid in the front and one slider in the rear portion. I broke the front glass when I was in New England and had it replaced with fiberglass as a temporary fix!
The glass company I talked to said you have to replace the whole frame and all three windows, at a cost of $1200.00!
Does anyone know of a salvage yard that might have a used window?
Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for all of the responses!

I will give Suncoast in Hudson a try after the holidays!

I will let you know how it works out!

Thanks again, Bob

Well luck you. I searched all over Kansas City for a glass shop that could match the tint on my windows. Even tried the home/building glass providers. None came close. The Kansas City metro area covers a 15 county area, so I'm not living in the sticks.

Maybe you could share the provider that matched the tint on your windows. That would be of great benefit to your fellow RVers.

Richard

Yep...you're correct. I never thought about tint, but the window worked just fine and didn't look bad.

X3 on Suncoast. I have had 3 windows (double pane) repaired and am very happy with them. I will go there as I need windows repaired.

To add to what I said about Atwood windows. My ol Bounder has dual pain windows, so I was thinking in those terms. Almost impossible for a local glass shop to replicate. Where as, single pane windows can be replicated by a local glass shop, except the tint might be off color.

Sorry but I've got to disagree with you. I would not have known this if I had not torn mine apart and fixed it. On the fogged window (dual pane) that I repaired, one pane was etched too badly to clean. I had a local glass company make a replacement. After all, a dual pane window is two single panes with a spacer in between the glass with sealant around the edges.

Last window I ordered was about $250.00 delivered.
Once you have the whole window assemble out, the frame comes apart for easy glass replacement.

Richard

To add to what Richard said, if you are willing to do some work, you can save a lot of money. Once the window is removed, there will be a plate with screws (normally at the bottom) that holds the two sides of the frame together. Upon removing these screws, the frame may be pried apart for glass replacement. A local glass company can make a replacement for you and get it tempered. Total cost including butyl tape to reseal the window flange to the motorhome should be less than $150.

The picture below shows a window frame pried apart for glass removal.

Agree. If you're willing to do some work, you can remove that window, remove the screws (probably at the bottom of the frame) that hold the frame edges together, pull the frame apart, and then you can remove any/all of the windows. A local glass company can make a glass to fit and get it tempered for you. You'll have to reseal the window lip to the motorhome when you reassemble (butyl tape). Total cost should be well below $150.

The image below shows the bottom of a window frame pried apart for window removal. The screws holding it together will be where the tools are inserted.

They sound like they are the same as the windows in our coach. Ours are Hehr brand.

Sun Coast designers can put new glass in any RV window and they have full hook-ups so you can stay while the make repairs. I bet it will be 1/2 of that price for a new window
