Electrical Problem

Well, Have had this problem for the last 10 years... It has been annoying, but I have not really had the time to work it out.

TONIGHT! I discovered the main issue with the problem.

I have a 2003 Damon Intruder 373.

When the house batteries drop below 11.9 volts, the CHASSIS battery becomes tied to the house.

I've changed the BASIC wiring a little, solar charges the house batteries from the existing converter output point (the rest of the wiring has no idea if the charge current is from a plug in or the sun shine).

Anyone have an idea why 11.8 volts might drop out a relay on this rig?

The "Aux Start" has never worked properly and the store panel has always shown both batts at the same voltage.

Oh, yes, I knew this was going to be fun to figure out.
  • We had a similar problem with our '98 Intruder that turned out to be bad wiring connections at the Intellitec Bi-Directional Isolator Relay Delay. CoachCare/Onan in Ocala Florida found it for us in 2005, it was located in the engine compartment, below the steering wheel.
  • Are you the original owner? Someone may have done some modifications.

This is reverse of how it should work. When the voltage is low the batteries should be isolated from each other.

Posting a few pictures would help.
  • I've read letting them get below 12.2 will have a negative effect on battery life. :h
  • Since the aux start does not work it is often best to fix what is obviously broken and other symptoms go away.

You need to find the aux start relay and post some pictures.

It could be as simple as a blown fuse so use a test light to check each side of every fuse you can find.
