emptying toilet tank with professional service

Called the United Site Services and they quoted $75 for 50 gallon and $125 for over 50 gallon. Not sure what size my RV's black tank is. My RV is a 1979 Dodge Sportsman Class C 22 feet.

I have had mine sucked out by potapotti trucks a number of times and its never collapsed the tank. The tank is vented.

Gotsmart, thanks. But I've been doing it 3-4 times a year for 7 years, no issues yet except once early on. I backflushed the valve with the garden hose nozzle then, and it cleared right up. The stock valve would be super easy to replace if necessary, anyway. I do use an end cap with a small hose cap on it just to check before removing the main cap. This is mainly to be sure I haven't been 'pranked', but it'll also show any leak issues.

Handbasket, you may want to consider installing one of these before the 90° elbow and controlling the dumping into the bucket with it. Here's the logic:

-connect the twist-on-valve to the sewer, with valve closed
-connect your 90° elbow to it
-place bucket under elbow
-pull open the RVs dump valve that you would normally use, and leave it open
-control the flow into the bucket by opening/closing the twist-on-valve

The dump valves don't like to close the blade on toilet paper, 'napkins', waste, other nasty debris. Opening and closing the valve just to fill a bucket runs the risk of the valve clogging up on something. Hence the suggestion of using a sacrificial dump valve that if its bladed gets clogged you can easily remove the valve, clean it, disassemble it, remove the clogging material, and reassemble it. It is a heck of a lot easier than having to service the RV's dump valve, should it get clogged doing this procedure.

It may have been made by the PO. Of course, your dump plumbing needs to be high enough, and your home bathroom needs to be within reasonable distance.

Unless you have a macerater hooked to that thing, it won't work. That's only for emptying the gray water. Chunks won't go through.

If the 5 gallon method is used it is less messy if you use one of these Sewer Cap hook a hose to it and run it anywhere, it will come out slower than that 4 inch hole :)

There is always the 5 gal bucket method. A little gross but dump 2 or 3 gals at a time and carry to a toilet. You need to be fast with the dump valve. I never had a pump truck empty my tanks, I think you need to have the flush valve on the toilet open so it does not collapse your tank. Also why they are hooked up have a garden hose ready so you can flush it out while they have the pump hooked up. Regards Dick
