I have a 1996 Tioga Montara Ford E350 Class C. Where is the engine ground and the chassis ground? I think I have a corroided ground.

Thank you.

I am having a starting problem. When I tried an isolated ground it started fine.

rvsmith88 - What problem are you trying to solve? If your engine starter does not want to crank over, then look for the battery under the hood negative connection to the frame.

If, on the other hand, you are experiencing problems with the coach lights, fridge, furnace etc look for the negative ground cable connection on the coach battery. A poor connection of the negative ground connection to the RV likely will affect all the 12 volt coach appliances. If only a few like the furnace fan are not working properly, then look for how the fan gets it's electrical - usually a black and a white wire. The white will likely be how the fan gets its ground look for the other end of that white wire. It could be wired back to a common junction block in the 12 volt converter box.

The insides may look a little like this -

I think I have found it, I can almost touch it from the cab. I guess I need to buy I mirror on a stick to see what the attachment it is, doesn't look fun!

Find the battery and find the negative terminal cable. Now follow it down to where it attaches to the ground point and that will probably be the point you need to clean. Now for the ground from the engine to the frame, you just have to visually find that cable and trace it's route.

That is probably the easiest thing to do.

Fred.

That only compounds the problem, pretty soon you have a rats nest of wires not knowing what is what. Find the problem and fix it, don't just put a band aid on it. There are words for that type of fix, not to be uttered in polite company.:E
