Engine Temp gauge stopped working

As stated my temp gauge always registered around 180 degrees regardless of outside temp. I looked at this past weekend and the needle remained left with no movement. I saw no fuse to inspect. Wondering if its the gauge itself or a wiring problem from the cat c-7.

    The dash gauge and its sending unit would have been installed by Monaco, not Caterpillar.

    I would start by making sure the connection on the engine end is clean and tight.

    After that, next step would be to call Monaco and find out how to test the gauge(what ohm reading should give what gauge reading).

    I'm not familiar with your engine but, I would check the wiring and connections before replacing the gauge. Maybe something is loose or rubbed the insulation off the wire..
    Maybe the sending unit is bad?
