I agree and even though some will luck out, every once in a while, these warranties all suck in general. I don't even like factory warranties and every time, I end up with one, some dealership will eventually p....s me off. Let's see, you bring it in there, figuring that the warranty is gonna pay for something and you end up paying more than you would, by taking it elsewhere. Not to mention, that if not for these so called warranties, you'd do it yourself in many cases and save the fuel trip, along with the aggravation.
My policy is to always buy used and pocket the savings. Thing is and as said, I've ended up with some left over and handed out warranties, when buying too new.

Extended warranties are insurance policies, nothing more. And most extended warranties pay about 50% of what you pay as a commission to whomever sells the policy. So if you buy a $3000 extended warranty from the dealer, then the dealer gets $1500 and $1500 goes to the warranty company. That is why they are so easer to sell these policies.

Is it a good deal? If you have a covered breakdown and it's more than the policy costs than it is. They are betting that doesn't happen to most of their customers and you are betting that it does, even though you don't want it to happen. I paid over $3500 for a warranty when I bought my motorhome. They started at $5000 and came down to $3500. The dealer can negotiate away their commission. Sure they want to sell it for $5k, but if they can get you to buy it for $3.5K then they still get a grand commission. I never had anything break that would have been covered by the warranty.

If I buy another new motorhome I doubt I'll pay extra for a extended warranty. If I bought a few year used one, I may look into a 2 or 3 year warranty only because you don't know how the previous owners treated the things.

We purchased one from the dealer for our 08 bus. We are also non-mechanical. It just seemed like the rig is pretty complicated. We have used about one-third $$ maybe more due to a frig replacement during the 1.5 year.So we have 2.5 years left. Will we do it again? Probably not as the price gets higher the older the rig. Thinking about setting up a "repair" savings account instead.

I have had extended warranties three times now - none from Good Sam. Once I came out where they did well as I used it little. Second time I was ahead of the game by over $1500. Last warranty covered the old coach that required $9,000 of repairs - new differential, alternator, failed autopark brake, hydraulic jack issues and more all in a very short time frame.

I used that warranty for three months and purchased a new rig - transferring the prorated balance over the to cost for coverage on the new rig. WAY,WAY ahead that time around already.

I am NOT mechanical and prefer to have the warranty for peace of mind. So far, , I am happy and ahead of the money game. I realize the odds are in THIER favor but has been a lifesaver and stress reliever for me. I am currently using Xtraride when has given me superb service and QUICK approval for repairs each and every time.

Logic may tell me that banking that money is a better way to go, but in my case, I would have lost the bet. One size insurance does not fit all. For me, extended warranties are worth every penny for the stress reduction and no surprises. May you never need an extended warranty plan. If you buy one, read the FINE PRINT!!

X2 on wholesale warranties..it was Executive that referred me to them and one month later my LCI pump which controls the jacks and the two front slides self destructed...the paperwork was still in transit back to the warranty company...they handled everything and had no problems with the remote tech who repaired it and got the new motor assembly right from LCI..

Well, I really wanted to do bz with wholesale warranties. I am still considering them, but they are offering me Portfoloio/surety inc which looks to have lousy reviews for their auto coverage. I don't find many reviews on their RV coverage. The other issue is that they quoted $4,000 for a 2 year policy on a 2008 monaco monarch with low miles. Seems very high to me. I am still shopping, and wish I could find a deal on xtraride.

extended warranty

I normally would never buy one but we went full time and now cannot do the maintenance I once could. Having peace of mind and finding a very reasonable price I sprung for it.

Recently my rear view monitor started acting up. A local rv place hesitated for a moment when they asked if I had (*) as the policy holder. They then took the information in the beautiful binder the company had given me and in a couple of weeks a brand new Voyager monitor was delivered. That was almost $800. My bite was about $175.

If the refer dies, the inverter croaks, one of the televisions shatters, the Engine coughs up a cylinder or the tranny falls out they will cover it.

I never received a call or correspondence getting the monitor repaired. Seems they did everything needed. I am a very happy customer.

I don't usually buy the extended warranty but when buying a used 2008 Bounder I was a little worried about buying a expensive lemon that had no warranty so I bought a 4 year plan just in case..

Its now been 1 and half years and not a single problem except little stuff, looks as if the warranty company is making some money on my dime so far.
