Just curious where everyone likes to go for fill ups and ect. I know there is a proper etiquette to be used when going to trucks stops or really anywhere but do you prefer Loves, Flying J, TA?

We use Pilot/Flying J when available.. right off the interstates, easy off/easy on...always easy to maneuver in, reasonable pricing, overnight parking if needed.... We have their locations guide... makes finding one and planning stops easy.. a little noisy overnight, however, well lit, constant people around and a generally safe feeling...and our Good Sam card gets us a discount on fuel....

That difference in cash or credit is a big turn off to me. If Kroger can charge $.10 less a gallon than Pilots cash price and no difference in cash or credit it could be $.25--.35 difference real quick and this thing holds 110gal......

Bought the book NEXT EXIT. In red print are the big rig friendly gas/diesel pumps. Use Gas Buddy a lot. Many (ie. independents) don't charge for credit cards. I try to stay away from the Big 3 due to .10-.30 more per gal and charge for credit cards.
Savings, per year is substanual.

One more for FlyingJ's. Two reasons: (1) we have a gas-powered motorhome and they're usually better than most places for gassing up (often a separate gas RV fueling station), and (2) my GoodSam membership gives me a 7 cent/gal discount (!) at Pilot/FlyingJ stations! Since those are usually the cheapest stations anyway, the discount makes me giddy about fueling up! (Well, maybe not giddy, but you know what I mean.)

Incidentally, I have a .csv file for all of the FlyingJ's in the U.S. PM me if you want it and I'll e-mail it to you.

We tended to use Pilots and we used the truck fill-up areas. We found TA to be more expensive.

I use Flying J because they are easy in and out, and I have a Flying J fuel charge card that makes it easy to pay at the pump.

I'm becoming more of a fan of Bucee's of late as much for convenience as for price. There's always lots of space around the pumps and you can always find a place to park your rig and take a walk to stretch the legs, shop inside, water the dog, whatever. Gas only.

Great read, thank you for all your feedback. We recently traveled in the Midwest, OK and KS and found some of the stops to be smaller. We are 36" feet long and use gas, have not usually come into problems with fitting but sometimes the traffic with cars can be challenging if they are smaller stops or real busy.
We have thought about the Flying J card and I will look into gas buddy, I did recently discover the next exit as well.

I'm the same as "ferndaleflyer". We use Gas Buddy in unfamiliar areas. Gas Buddy often offers a photo of the station to see if it's navigable with a big rig.

We're 65' long with the truck in tow and find I can get in and out of most stations. Haven't been stuck in one yet in 11 years. Out west, especially in California, the truck stops are anywhere from .08 - .15 cents more a gallon. That amount isn't going to break the bank, but with my PenFed credit card, an additional 5% discount, I'm looking at .25 cents a gallon and on a 50 gallon fill up, I've got lunch money.

For me, the payment rules, dirty lanes and dealing with truckers is just not worth the effort. We do use Sinclair stations when we see them as they always have nice RV pumps along with one Pilot we use on the Arizona/California border that has RV lanes and great prices.

Over the years, we've identified stations within a 1000 mile radius of our home that we typically use on each trip. So given some time, you'll get comfortable finding stations that will work for you.

I hit Gas Buddy app on my phone and get the cheapest Deisel. Seldom go in a Flying J, Loves, or Pilot and seldom find a place I can't get in or out of and I am 72ft long. Got it today for $1.79

We usually just stop at a glass station, almost never a truck stop. When we had the TT we were 53 ft long now with an A and a toad a little longer but can turn a little tighter so still good.
Truck stops are busy noisey and usually has fuel to walk on. If I had a diesel I might reconsider but a mobile or shell or kangaroo or ...... is good enough for me.
