fireplace

I have a 2014 Itasca Sunstar 35f. I really like the coach for DW and I but the fireplace under the TV is a real piece of crap. Have installed second blower-heater motor for second time now its bit the dust. I like the heat part to knock the chill of on a cool morning. Surely I am not the only one with this problem. I would like to install a different wall mount type fire place and wonder if anyone has done this before??
Thanks
  • I'm doubt this is what you are looking for as a replacement, but I installed this electric fireplace under my television. My motorhome didn't come with a fireplace and it was on my wish list. This fireplace has worked flawlessly for over a year now, and yes I know a portable ceramic heater would do the same job. This was just my preference for an alternate heat source on a cool day. Love it!

  • blknomad,

Just a wild guess here, but by any chance do those blower motors have a thermal sensitive breaker on them? Perhaps they just need to be reset.

Even so, motors typically wear out due to low voltage, heavy load, poor lubrication (if needed) or poor air circulation. In your case, it's most likely poor air circulation. So perhaps the recommendation to open the front and allow more air is a good recommendation. Make sure that all vents are open and clear of debris. If you have pets, it's very common for hair to be drawn in and cause problems. I have to clean out our portable fan-driven electric heaters once or twice a heating season due to accumulation of dog hair on the intake screen.

    Good Luck with your issue.

  • I think you misunderstood, what happens is after a new motor heater is installed it works for a while then it quits working. they have sent a 3rd blower but I'm tired of taking it apart to replace it.
  • I have one thats smiler and I opened the glass front so it gets a little more air and it helped. actually I removed the glass for the time I had it on. Just not enough air gets to the blower. I think that it recirculates the air and heats it more. Try that and see if it helps.
  • I think running a propane line to a heater in those close quarters is a little much. I'd just like to know if any one has replaced the -"electric" fire place with a different "electric" fire place and what did you use??
