First time Class A buyer...comments on this deal?

Hi folks! First of all thanks for the info I have read on this site. It has armed me well 🙂

Here is a price on a Motorhome that seems like a bargain. It is a new 2017. He is telling me that his final price is his cost $75000. Been thinking about coming back with pay sales tax before I make the trip. It is about 3 hours from here so all the negotiations have been through email.

Most of RV depreciation takes place in the first 4 or 5 years .. plenty of low mileage rigs that fit that description. For the same money you likely can buy very nice used rig. The key to buying a rig is patience.

I asked him to throw in sales tax which is about 4K. He responded that they don't collect taxes at the dealer (which is obvious) and that would be a loss for him and he can't do it. I replied OK, I will keep looking.....

Search in Omaha Craigslist for 2015 Forest River FR3, very similar unit that I know is a steal at $71K. My MIL is selling and I have done all maintenance, it is perfect and located in Omaha, Ne.

That is what I had planned to do. There seems to be plenty of low miles 2015-2017 RV's available. This one being new seemed to be what some of the used ones were going for.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. My priority with this purchase is to get as good of a deal price wise as possible. It seems the market is constantly churning and some dealers/owners want to get rid of RV's and eat most of the depreciation. We will not be living in it full time. Wanted to get something for 1-2 week long trips and to use in state at the parks. 🙂

Thanks. Looking at NADA it comes in at low retail. I am not sure what exactly low retail means. Should I expect to be under that?

A deal on an RV that doesn't fit your anticipated RV lifestyle is not a deal.
The Kieva's suggest spending much time in any rig to pretend it is yours and to think about how you would use the available space/facilities around you.
