Fixed My Trik-L-Start

Surprise, dead starting battery, with Trik-L-Start.
Had to use emergency start to go have 6 Michelins replaced because of recall. Put starting battery on charge overnight when I got back.
Opened up house battery compartment, found I had forgotten to connect Trik-L-Start ground wire when replacing house batteries. Also found loosely crimped-on ring terminal at circuit breaker that I installed in series with blue wire from Trik-L-Start to starting battery positive terminal. Now starting battery reads 13.1 volts with engine off charging from house battery/converter/charger through Trik-L-Start. Yellow LED is on indicating maintenance charge rate. Double Duh!! 15 amp circuit breaker is recommended in case blue wire from house battery shorts to the frame, etc.
  • Yup, Wonder how many newish RV's have devices like this installed as standard equipment. Lot's of confusion about this among owners, RV "experts", and even in owner's manuals. Best to check voltage at starting battery when plugged into shore power and when disconnected to see if battery is getting a maintenance charge or not.
