Flat Towing

We have towed a 1990 Honda Accord, a 2001 Honda Civic and a 2007 Honda Civic (2007 our current toad with 100,000 ODO miles and 36,000 towed miles) All with manual transmissions and 4 down.

In all cases the Users Manual DID NOT recommend towing 4 down. They want to sell CRVs: :) IMO.

we looked at a versa as a potential, also the sentra. Both with manual transmissions. We went with a Hyundai Elantra. 2600 lbs, gets good milage, 150 HP with direct injection. Only standard thing it didnt have was power seats. Less than $17K which is on par with the nissans unless you go to the smaller ones and they are really basic. There is a smaller hyundai/kia to look at be the wife like the elantra best. Have only towed it for about 5 miles since just got the tow bar setup installed, really seemed to work well.

I tow my Jetta standard flat. It is a 2003. No problems and I have towed it a total of about 10,000 miles
