Front driver and Pasenger shades don't work

My 2006 Holiday Ambassador has electric windshield shades which have both stopped working. None of the 12 volt fuses mention the shades. Any one have an idea where to look???
  • Thank-you for your help with my shades. Your advice was spot on. I replaced the blown 5 amp fuse with a 7.5 amp and the shades are working again! The fuse position was F9.
Thank-you again for your prompt response!

  • 'midasman"....The fuse is in the large fuse box in the bay under the driver's window, known as the "run bay". It should be a 5 amp fuse. Monaco used a lot of fuses for more than one thing and didn't give the names of everything the fuse powered.

Often, you have to use a volt meter and check the fuses while still in place. The auto parts stores also sell a small tester with adjustable probes on the end that you can just touch to the back of the fuse while it's still in place.

Start by checking the 5 amp fuses. If you find it, replace it with a 7.5 amp. Mine use to blow that same fuse often, especially if both shades were operated at the same time. No more issues after replacing with the 7.5 amp fuse.

Lastly, my coach was an 05 and those shades had a single screw at both ends of the shade that was driven into the roof. At least the shades used in 05 had just a cheap plastic tab at the end that the screw went through. The tab, over time, will break and the shade will fall. The easy fix was to remove each screw, and install a large fender washer to cover more of the plastic tab on the end of the shade.
