Fuel gauge should not been effected by work on genset as it normally comes on main fuel tank of MH.
The genset should have a separate pickup tube that ends when about 1/4 tank of fuel remains.
Sure sounds like the repair may have had something to do with work on fuel tank. The float is dragging along the fuel pick up tube thus causing it to respond slowly. When they worked on fuel system, maybe installing new fuel pump it was not installed correctly.
