Genie installation

I know some of you have installed a directv genie. I currently have a SWM system and want to use my genie and wired or wireless clients as I have both. I know the new H54 DVR has the power inserter as part of the equipment. I have a power inserter behind the wall. Do I need to remove the old power inserter or will the genie work with the old power inserter still active?
  • The HR54 Genie has a built in Power Inserter and cannot be used with an external Power inserter but can be used with any SWM antenna that would require a standard home PI21 (21V) power inserter. It would be fully compatible with the Winegard Trav'ler, just remove the PI21 that comes with it and it would work with all tripod mounted DirecTV SWM antennas (again, don't use a separate power inserter).
  • I don't know the answer to your question, but I recently had a new Genie installed so I could get 4K UHD. I was up in the attic the other day and noticed the power inserter was unplugged. I went to plug it back in and noticed that it was disconnected completely (no coax connected to it at all).

So I'm wondering whether the new Genie uses a power inserter? All I see is a standard brick power supply.
