Good Sam or Coach-Net for MH + Boat Trailer & Family

UPDATE:

Decision made. Stayed with Coach-Net.

Explanation on pg. 3 here.

Well I spent a fair amount of time in the search realm and am still finding myself in need.

I've been with Coach-Net for a few years now. I had to call once and was happy with the service.

Time to renew. Or...

My needs are:

Motorhome + Boat/Trailer

Wife and I covered including our other 2 vehicles and those we borrow, rent, etc...

The only thing that has me considering leaving Coach-Net is the potential for discounts and such being a GS member.

Also...

Maxwell just drove in Belt. Then another RBI for Duffy before ending the inning. My Giants 2, Padres 0 at the top of the 3rd.

But I digress...

*EDIT*

I signed up for Coach-Net a few years ago because the reviews here seemed to be more in favor of them and also because I don't think GS covered boat trailers back then. But now that they do, I am wondering if the rv.net ratings are the same as the were back then or if things have evened out somewhat.

Also...

Top of the 6th:
6-0 Giants
.
Cheers,
Kendall

I had extremely good service from Coach Net even as far away as Alaska on a Sunday afternoon. I have no experience with GS.

Update:

I re-upped my Coach-Net.

In fact... I had let it lapse and forgot that their system doesn't start until the day after your order. Well... my wife was heading out on a 500 mi trip in her car with our girls, so I called them. After discussing it with her supervisor, the gal came back and said they would cover us a day early. Fortunately we didn't need it, but it was comforting.

Reasons for sticking with Coach-Net:

1. My research turns up many more satisfied customers than the others.

2. Had good service the 1 time I've needed them in the past.

3. Want unlimited towing for both the rig and our passenger vehicles. My girls often do long road trips and I need as much comfort as I can get while they're on the road.

4. We often pull a boat and want it covered too

So we continued with our Premier plan.

Thanks everyone!
Cheers,
Kendall

Both AAA and GS have 100 mile towing to any destination of your choice

That is good thing to know about coachnet only tows to nearest facility. Versus 100 for AAA and GS.

Thanks for pointing that tidbit out! :B

This is not entirely accurate. For Coachnet the limited plan is limited to 75 miles, but the Basic and Premier plans have no mileage or dollar amount limits and no out of pocket expense when towing your disabled vehicle to the nearest qualified repair facility.

Actually the nearest facility that is guaranteed to fix your problem and now it's on them. They will also put you in a campground on weekends and such and then tow you again for repair. Still and whatever the case, they will work with you and offer tech support as well, for simple troubleshooting.

I read pretty much evenly distributed negativity on both GS and CN. Mostly around response times.

Time to respond is not necessarily a reflection on the ERS club. The towing companies are contracted. They have contracts with others too, not just GS or CN. AAA, various insurance companies, etc. If you hit them on a busy day, you will wait. I don't believe any ERS guarantees specific response times.

My only concern about CN is that they will only tow you to the nearest authorized repair facility. That means if I'm 99 miles from home, and the nearest facility is 5 miles, I have to travel back there to get my vehicle. Both AAA and GS have 100 mile towing to any destination of your choice.

Lots of good replies here. Thanks!

Presently, both companies appear to offer boat trailer coverage in addition to the MH. Until today I had not yet heard of either company pointing to fine print to deny boat trailer coverage.

I have until tomorrow (Thu) evening to make my decision and am still on the fence a bit, but...

One thing I noticed when I first signed up with CN years ago... and still seems true today...

You hear mixed reviews with GS. But you almost never hear anything bad about Coach-Net.

In many businesses, it's not always your day to day service that makes for happy patrons, but rather how you deal with problems that tends to make or break you. RVers talk. We talk online or to the camper in the space next door. I would think the best advertising for an ERS would be good service to their customers. Coach-Net appears to understand this philosophy very well.

Kendall

GS has also taken care of my trailer-----every time I have used them it has been just fine. They towed my friends truck and trailer with 2 race cars on it from near the PA line to Winchester, Va no problem. Came here and pulled my duelly out of the garage and took it to the repair shop of my choice. + a flat and a radiator hose fix on the DP over the years.....I have had no problems with GS.....

You got to remember that none of them are just sitting around waiting for YOU to have your problem.

I had to use them 4 times over the years and was very happy with all four service calls. The ETA was different for each one.

The key is the time and place how fast that service is available for your situation.

I had GS and was towing our boat behind the MH and burnt a bearing on the trailer. Called GS, they told me boat trailers are not covered when being towed by the MH. They pointed me to some small print in the contract. Since then, I've used CN-- they don't have that

restriction

.

GS also has a restriction for horse trailers or any RV attending a horse show and/or dog show with dogs inside the RV. They say this falls into the category of livestock hauling which is a restriction. :R:R

If that were true all RV'ers that have dogs in them would be in violation.
