GULF SHORES, AL
About a month ago, my sister and I took a slow trip to Gulf shores, for a week. We took out time going and coming. NO RUSH. We stated at the Island Retreat Campground, on Hwy. 182, Fort Morgan Road. We really like the cg. A nice park, close to the beach, about 2 miles. Bike trail runs in front of the cg. Saw the Blue Angels. always a thrill to watch them. Went through the monsoon on Tuesday into Wed. WOW,what a rain stomr. The offical rain gauge in our area broke after recording 15" of rain. The guess was that Gulf Shores got over 20" of rain in about 12 or so hours. Pensacola received almost 27" of rain from that storm. Lots of roads closed, School closed because the buses could not get around. The bike trail was flood in both directions. The brothe and sister in llaw were at Gulf Shores SP, for an rv rally, after that was over they came over to spend the week with us. Lots of fun, lost of laugher, good food. A really nice trip.
With all the rain, had a leak from under the a/c guasket. HHHHMMMM, so I order a new one of those. Hope ti get it install soon.
I f you stay at Island Retreat. beware of the campsites in the los numbers of 190's, those sites hold water. Well any low spot with that kind of rain will hold water. We were at site 199, which was dry.
Safe Travels
