H44 recall

Hi all, new rv’er and new to forum. Not sure I’m in the right place for this question but guess I’ll find out. We just bought our first rv, a 2009 fleetwood pulse 24D. It has an open recall from 2009, H44 “reprogram ecm”, has to do with emissions. Is anyone familiar with this recall? The vehicle has obviously gotten by for 12 years without it, including passing emissions inspections. Don’t know if I should leave well enough alone or get the reprogram done. I don’t want it to stir up problems. Anyone with experience or advice is appreciated. Thank you.
  • To my knowledge all manufacturer recalls are free. I guess that was my biggest fear, can I trust a mopar mechanic working on a mb. And wondering why no p.o. Had it done since 2010. I made the appt anyway for 5/28 so fingers crossed. Thanks all for replies.
  • Is the recall free ??? Do you know of a reputable mechanic that can do the recall without trying to rip you off on other things ??? If yes to both of those questions why not do it ??
  • Why would you not want to have the fix made? Do you really want your engine to run worse, and have soot problems?

The Engine Control Module (ECM) on about 39,100 of the above vehicles may not
actuate the EGR valve sufficiently to prevent soot accumulation, resulting in
improper valve operation or sticking. Improper valve operation may cause excessive
exhaust emissions, illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp and a vehicle
    limp-in condition.
  • Class C, Dodge chassis, MB 6 cylinder diesel, I was thinking along the lines of dodge guy, that whole let sleeping dogs lie thing, but was hoping someone may have had experience with it. Thank you.
  • I wouldn’t worry about after all this time. In fact because it hasn’t been done is probably why it’s not having issues.

    I wouldn’t bother with it.
  • Class A? Class C?

Let's try to get you into the right neighborhood.
