Help! I'm stuck with my slides not operating - stuck out now

It was the electric motor on the HWH pump that had gone bad.

I got a new motor and I also replaced the solenoids and cleaned up all the electrical connections and now it works perfectly!

I've had 2 slides fail this past year. The main kitchen slide was a real pain to get back in.
Needed 2- 1 1/4 wrenches to release the lock nut and then 3 very strong men to manually push it in. It needed a new controller and a small plsatic gear in the gearcase. Why Newmar woiuld use 1 plastic gear against steel gears is STUPID! The bedroom slide fortunatley quit while in (although it was day 1 of a 3 wk. vacation). The main steel shaft snapped in 2. Newmar was good about getting me the right parts to fix it. But it was a tough job to repair.
Slides and jacks are the 2 things that have given me trouble. Those slides are heavy and the sytems used for them are undersized IMO.

I had a bedroom slide that wouldn't come in while in Moab, UT and called a local rv guy to help get it. Had it fixed later in Denver. Mine operate w/ electric motors.

Here's my 2 cents. I had a slide issue and it turned out to be the air switch that allows the ground circuit to complete when the parking break is set. Its a safety feature that prevents the hydraulic motor to operate unless the parking break is set.

We had our bedroom slide work off and on during a long trip from Oregon to Virginia Beach one year. The super slide worked fine but not the bedroom one. Very frustrating. Had to climb into bed with the slide in for our return home drive. Afraid I would get it out and have to crank it in being a rookie at fivers then I thought it would be best to do that. When we did get home I started to check out the individual control switch for the bedroom, no problem there. After searching around I found two circuit boards under the sink counter one was cracked and the other not {super slide}. They were identical so I switched them out and the bedroom one worked sand the super didn't. I took the damaged circuit board {size of a playing card} to my RV repair shop. He took one look at it and said that is a common problem he resoldered it and $35.00 later all is well been that way for several years now. So if it does happen again I can just switch wires back and forth instead of hand cranking. This was in our 2003 Sandpiper. Hope this helps other people with a similar issue..Ray

I paid a lot of money for my DP and had a hard time finding it but I cured the slide problem I seem to see every where I go. I don't have any. But I don't live in it either so I don't need more than the 38ft single wide......Hope you find the cure easy.

Here is what happened when the slide motor quit on our 2002 Itasca Horizon, in Teslin, Yukon:

We were unable to get the slides in at all using the manual instructions. Fortunately, when the tech suggested (by phone) that someone tap the motor with hammer while someone else pressed the switch, in came the slides! At least we were able to drive to the shop in Whitehorse. The story gets better (and longer) from there!

Glad you made it home. Look for a fuse first. I had that happen to me once.
