I posted last week about my steps not working any longer. I found it was the controller. I bought a new controller, gear box and motor kit from PPL motorhomes. I installed it today and all is well, except the step lock-out switch. I am not getting any power to that switch and I should have 12 volts with the switch ON (zero volts with the switch OFF). I ran a 12 volt jumper to it and the step lock out works fine with that jumper so I know it's the wire somewhere. One other thing I found and may be related, is I have no lights in my bays. All of them are out. I am guessing there is a fuse that controls the power to the steps and the bay lights. I CAN'T FIND IT.1994 Allegro Bus D/P. I've checked all fuses under the fridge (about 6 or 8 fuses), in the dash (10 or more), inside the genset compartment (4 up there) and in the bay with my converter (4 in there). I checked them with a meter and those fuses are good. Now where else do they hide fuses? I wish they would tell you where all fuses are located.

Look under the hood for the battery control center. Driver's side

TInstar, I'm just going to throw this out, check all GFI outlets in the bays or everywhere. Just might be that one has tripped.Good luck,MM.

When you figure it out let us know I have a 97 allegro bus,gasser. I have no Idea where the fuse is. none of my fusses are Identified.

I can run a hot wire to the step lock-out switch and make it work but that won't get my bay lights back.

Just throwing this out there since its been awhile since I worked on my steps but isn't there a Fuse in the wiring down underneath near the steps. I seem to remember prying open some type of plastic holder that wires passed thru that either had a fuse in-line or some other fashion of connector....I'll crawl under tomorrow to try and verify exactly what I'm referring to.

If the lock out switch you are referring to is what Kwikee calls a "Step Switch", the fuse is a manufacturers installed fuse. While mine was an add on feature, it was easy to find. If the Tiffin, like my Winnie was included in the engineering of the wire looms, it may be a little harder to find.

There is a RED wire coming out of the four way connector, that should be a wire that goes directly to the battery via a 20 or 25 amp fuse or circuit breaker. There should be a white wire tapped into that red wire that goes to the switch and then continues to the four way connector. There should be a five or six amp fuse in the white wire between the red wire and the switch.

Kwikee Owners Manual #888 has a great drawing of the circuits but does not specify the location of anything added by or connected by the RV mfg.

Can't imagine Tiffin not being any help, they built it and their customer service is very good (brother bought a 2014 Tiffin). Hopefully it's an easy fix for you. I know it can be frustrating as it seems you have tried everything.

I've got some switches there. One is 12 volt battery disconnect, one for the outside dock light, one for the floor lights (night lights), one for interior lights and the last one is the step lock out switch. All of them work fine except the step lock out. There is no power to that switch.

I've owned this motorhome for about 10 years and I've done most all work on it. I've never found a "master" switch for the bay lights. I can install power to the step lock out switch. That's not a problem but I shouldn't have to do that and that doesn't get my bay lights back. I'll talk to an RV tech Monday. I may try to call Tiffin but I doubt they would be much help.

I would call Tiffin with vin number and see is they can provide manual or drawings for your rig.

Hi, my 94 Bounder DP has a switch by the door that controls the power to the lights in the compartments below. There are individual switches inside each but the main one inside has to be on.

I have checked there. That's where my air horn compressor, water pump and tank is located. I didn't find any fuses in there.

I am not familiar with DP's but mine was a blue 15 amp fuse in the automotive fuse box.
