Help with Dish Network

Just purchased a new to us 2013 Anthem, it has a Dish Hi Def dish on it, I have never dealt with Dish and am getting all sorts of conflicting stories from them. If anyone has Dish maybe they can help, I have a SK 1000 dish, it has 3 LNB's and is Hi Def. I can only get a mobile account, and have to buy my equipment, no problem, but I go to buy equipment and I am being told that I can not get a DVR that will work with my dish. I must use a 211z, I think is the number, This only allows for single watching and no recording. But other people say a 722 will work, this allows you to record and watch plus also feeds a second tv in standard def. Can anyone tell me if the are using Dish with hi def and what receivers they are using?
Thank,
Ray

I wonder what rewiring he thinks you need to use a Hopper? The only changes I make when I switch from using the 211k in the coach to using the Hopper and Joey is to switch my dish cable from a single LNB port to the Solo Node attached to the tripod. The front TV in the coach uses the same HDMI cable for either receiver. The bedroom TV uses either the RF coax feed from the 211k or the HDMI feed from the wireless Joey when the Hopper is in use. As far as cost, yes, it costs more to buy the Hopper and the DVR fee is $12/mo plus $7 for the Joey, but we feel the extra features are well worth it.

No, I was talking about the wiring in the house, not the MH. The MH is all taken care of with the 722 for the HD set in the front and the regular tv in the bedroom as I haven't gotten around to changing the old Samsung out. We will be adding a box in the house as we have three HD tvs on three different floors and two regular flat screens and that's where the wiring change will be.
I think that I pay $12-13 a month for the service in the MH and I think that's less than the pay as you go pricing. I also know that I can record as much HD as I want on the 722.

Hey Rooster... 2 things... Coffee if ur still up north and at least Dish has PAC 12 and Root NW.

Maybe CBS should settle with Dish.

We did this (with just one 722) for a couple of years and we found sharing the "recording list" was troublesome. Also, If I wanted to record something and watch another recorded program and she wanted to watch a live program (Dancing with the stars), it would knock off the program I was recording. This happened quite often and I guess you can imagine that it was a problem.

So, last year I brought along our 2nd 722 and that totally solved all our tv watching/recording problems. The two units are totally separated from each other (watching/recording) and sure made our tv watching lives much nicer.

I think I am going with two 722's that will allow for watching and recording in both bedroom and main cabin, will run the SD to the outside TV.

Great choice....I think you'll very satisfied with this combination. Hopper/Joey does give more recording options, but 2 722s provide a very simple and easy way to do what you are asking and plus you will only have two devices instead of three.

Good luck

Raymond,

Do you have "Pay-as-you-go" or "Dish 4 My RV" service?

Different names for the same plan. Dish actually calls it their no contract "Flex" plan.

Yes. "Pay-as-you-go" and "Dish 4 My RV" are the same but they are not quite the same as Flex. There are some important similarities and differences.

They have some of the same advantages
- to turn on and off with no fee
- own the equipment
- no Contract

Differences
- Flex is home based with a wider range of equipment
- Flex can include installation
- Flex gets startup discounts
- Pay As You Go has some limitations in equipment and how HD and DVR is implemnented.
- Pay As You Go has no startup discounts
- Pay As You Go has no "Dish Network" installation

Compare
Pay As You Go

Flex

Thanks for clearing that up. It's interesting that Dish lists my "Pay As You Go" account that was set up through Dish4MyRV as a "Flex" account according to their CSR's. They don't seem to know about a "Pay As You Go" plan, just variations of the "Flex" plans.

Agreed... I have a remote power switch that makes power cycling the receiver (and external hard drive on the 211k) a simple button push. Otherwise the inverter would keep them alive while underway.
