Help with jacks acting goofy

We closed a deal on a new ACE 29.2 this weekend and took it out for a shake down. I tried the jacks on auto mode and I don't think they are functioning properly. They act very erratic. At the site I was in, it had a very gradual slope down in the front and a bit to the left. It had us rocking back and forth side to side, jacks going up and down for about 5 minutes. The jacks ended up putting all 4 wheels off the ground, said it was level and wasn't. The coach was rocking from being up on stilts. Rather than risk bending them I retracted. I tried again with similar results. I would have assumed the rears wouldn't really need to be deployed at all since we were sloping forward. I eventually tried manually and had better luck using the level on my iphone and only the fronts. After I got it sorted out sitting outside I could hear it creak down once in a while. By morning totally unlevel again. I heard they have a reset but could not find one. Still under warranty and I supposed will let the dealership figure it out unless someone has any idea what's going on.

Tried in the drive which is pretty much level. Ran the auto and it set itself to level. I checked with a 3 foot level and it was dead on. Moved it to another spot that was a little less level and it worked fine there too although took longer. Perhaps the CG I was in had a slope that the jacks just couldn't deal with. THe instructions say to get the coach about as level as possible which is kind of funny when you think about it. But I guess all things have their contraints.

Don't see any leaks. Will try the process for resetting to point zero and Lippert also reccomends pads (which I don't have) Thinking taller the better so might make a set of 6" pads with 4x4's sandwiched between 3/4 PT ply glued and screwed and rubber coat them.
  • First check for hydraulic leaks. My MH had numerous leaks in the lines when delivered. Second LCI recommends blocks under their jacks. I got the instruction manual on line. I did the initial set up. Using blocks I have no problems with them.I use a 6" block under mine. PITA but that is how they work best. If yours are changing I suspect they are leaking. Once setup I level with auto.
  • Personally we only use ours in manual mode but the few times we used auto level, I remember reading that you need to either leave the coach or stay completely still while it goes through its thing.

On ours, we always felt like it raised the coach too high in auto mode even on a nearly level site.
  • We have a three week old ACE 30.1, but the leveling system works well. It is a bit disconcerting for a few seconds as the different jacks adjust, but it never takes more than a minute and we're rock solid. Are you putting landing pads down? Even flat level all four go down.

Look at page 50 of the owner's manual and follow it step by step. It seems silly, but when I can't get something to work, even when I think I know what I'm doing, I go read the book/instructions again. If you're still having problems, a return trip to the dealer is in order.

I hope it works out - we love our ACE!
