Help With King Dome

Looking for some help here I have a King Dome In-Motion satellite installed on my 2012 378XL and for some reason it is not in sync with my receivers and I have contacted King Dome and have completed all of their diagnostics and I need a #1844 Diagnostic Keypad to recalibrate the dish. I am asking if anyone has one or knows of someone that has one that I can use. I will pay for shipping to and from. Should be a #1844 keypad. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps this will help:

Click "Owners Manual" to download all the instructions.

I have KD model 9762. What model KD do you have?

You do not need 1844. Follow programming instructions that start on page #14

Thanks all for the posting and the issue will not lock on to any sat it searches fine and on the search bar will get 2 bars then it goes in searching again then it will stop and the light on the switches are power (green) search (orange). I was able to rent a key switch from King Dome for 35 bucks plus 5 bucks shipping and with that key switch will recalibrate the system or tell them what is the problem. If all else falls I will claim under my extended warranty, and have them mess with it. Ill post when its fixed and what the problem was.

I hate to mention this as you seem to have done a lot of trouble shooting and probably know your system pretty well.

But...did you run a new 'check switch' after changing to the western arc?

When we were at the GS Rally last week we paid a "tech expert" $50 to come fix our King Dome. It too would not lock on the correct satellite. I had no problems on the East Coast but here on the West Coast, it would not work correctly. For $50, here's the "fix"..save your money...:W

Press the button for three seconds...the dish will search and lock onto a satellite. If it's not the correct one, press the button AGAIN for ONLY ONE SECOND!...The dish will search for the next satellite. Press it again for ONE SECOND and it'll go to the next one etc. Try this an see if that "fixes" your problem....if it does, please post back...Dennis

I can tell you I went through so many problems with my King Dome in motion dish that I eventually pulled it off and threw it away. It was very difficult to diagnose, very difficult to repair, and every person I talked to who knew anything about them said they were nothing but problems. Now mine was an older unit from 2004 so maybe things have improved since then, but I'd never get another one. Just something to think about before you spend too much money trying to fix it.

Here is a link to a troubleshooting guide. I DID NOT read everything but it seems to indicate that the 1844 keypad is an EASIER tool to use but it also seems to give directions for setting up your system without the 1844.
Make sure that you are going through the right procedure for your serial number since it changed after 170000. King Dome troubleshooting

rgatijnet1 I have tried both dish receivers and my king dome is an in motion sat and you can set if up for dish, direct tv, or bell, and for many different satellites. The problem is its became un synced and needs to be re-calibrated the sat id not communication with the receivers and I have tried different receivers. The dish needs to be reset to default that's why you need the keypad.

everything is suppose to be working but when I changed from eastern arc to western arc it became un synced. I have the correct power to the dish, then into the first control board, then to 2nd board up to the LMB. King Dome says that I need the keypad to recalibrate the dish. I have checked the rv dealers local and into Dallas area and no luck so far. That's why I am reaching out here. Hate to spend that money for a 5 minute adjustment.

Have you gone through a complete reset with your satellite box to see if you can get things synced?
Is your satellite box limited to only the Eastern arc because that is where your DirecTV account is registered?

From Amazon.com the 1844 keypad is $172.00. I would do a search of King satellite dealers and find one that is near by. They probably have one and can determine your problem.
I know that I had to go through various antenna on my cable box to find one compatible with my King Dome. If I remember right, it was a 16" dish, single LNB.
If they determine that you have a bad component, let me know, I may have what you need. I took my working King Dome off of my coach a year or so ago and it is just gathering dust in the garage.
