house battery

I,ve got a new four winds class c motor home . when I park it and turn the battery disconnect switch off inside the motor home and go to turn it back on in 2 weeks I notice the battery is dead . would this be common , as soon as you start up the motor home again the battery charges back up but I thought the purpose of this switch is to kill all power which it appears to do. im wandering if I might have a weak cell in the battery that just doesn't hold a charge well . anyone experience a similar situation
  • Sounds like a dead cell to me. Have it tested at the auto parts store.
  • when I turn my battery disconnect switch off there is still some power drain on the battery. to completely disconnect the battery I have to disconnect the negative lead of the battery. since I have it plugged in all the time its not a problem for me. 2 weeks does sound kind of quick for the battery to go flat though. can you measure the current drain when the disconnect switch is off?
  • I too have a 2014 thor chateau and even with the battery disconnect in the storage position, there is a slight draw on the battery. I measured at .075 amp. The radio also draws from the chassis battery as well as the house battery to keep its settings. If you can't keep it plugged in to shore power or use a battery tender then I would recommend disconnecting the negative on the house battery and coach battery. If you look under the bed you will see there is a power takeoff with a fuse before the disconnect relay. I added a second battery and switches for the radio/video circuit and USB power station to reduce the load when dry camping.
