No, I have been lucky. My father had factory service manuals for everything, including the Merc. I bought a Merc "body book" off eBay a couple years ago, though. For the stuff he bought used --quite a lot of it actually-- he had the old Motors Manuals, I use those, they cover the Buick 340, the Flattie, etc. For my Ford truck, I kinda guess. My Olds I bought an eBay factory manual for.
But Chilton's has to be better than guessing. But maybe not.....

I just missed a 78 Clipper. Fellow selling said another fellow was coming at 3 to look at it, auction says it's sold. Yeah, I actually am heartbroken....
Maybe the "new" buyer will back out.
