If you are going to be sitting for a month or more, I would fill the tank, especially if you are in an area of high humidity.

FULL, Multiple reasons for this but FULL.

First: The less air in the tank (unlike propane tanks where folks talk about "letting the air out" (There is no air in a propane tank) Gasoline tanks DO contain AIR.. Air contains moisture (Water) which can condense out inside the tank, as the tank heats and cools (Along with the outside air) the tank will "Breath" sucking in more moisture laden air.. The less air space, the less "Breathing" it can do and the less moisture.. Of course E-xx Fuels do absorb water rather well and carry it out..

Second: I came home from Church one New Year's Eve. It was cold and I still had my Christmas Snowman up.. But he was sleeping on the job (Air-Blown inflatable) NO POWER.. A quick check showed it was not a "lcoal" problem but a neighborhood problem.

Down to the basement, get the big coiled heavy duty 8ga Cord.
Up to the back of the house, Plug the OUTLET on the cord into the INLET on the House.

Uncoil the cord as I head west (Toward the motor home) and opening a storage compartment plug into the Heavy Duty 30 amp outlet therein.

Into the Motor home and get the Gen-turi, back out and hook it up
Back inside and fire up the Generator. Listen for the CLUNK of the Transfer Switch.

Back to the basement.. CLICK and the lights come on, Click and the Furnace comes on.

Additional clicks brought up Television and Radio, Microwavfe and kitchen, More lights, Computer, modem and the like.

All those switches and cables and such, and a new Power distribution panel (I upgraded while I was at it) right about 1,000 dollars.

The conventional wisdom around here is that if you must run the engine, it's best to get it out on the road an bring oil temps up high enough to boil off any moisture. If you can't do that, it's best to not run it at all.

I do run the genny once a month over the winter making sure to put a load on it (ceramic heater works).

I just replaced the gas tank in an old car I've been restoring.
Upon removal of the filler neck I looked inside and could see exactly where a small air gap is always present at the top of the tank. I could tell because that's where the minor but obvious surface rust started. Below that it was almost like new - no rust at all.
So I say keep it full.

Agree with full tank. Stored previous MH with almost empty tank as it needed to be dropped for gasket repair. Needed to use it before the repair was made and I had enough condensation that the motor quit several times after I filled with fuel. Also had a classic car stored for a long period with partial tank. Condensation rusted the top corner of the tank through.

Lucas makes a stabilizer specifically for ethanol fuel. I don't know what the difference is, but the one year I store the gasser over the winter, it started right up after sitting for 5 months.

Even if it's a gas rig, you should be using a water separator fuel filter with a clear and drainable fuel bowl. If you check it and drain it, it will prevent a lot of problems. Look at Racor's web site.
