HWH Flatt floor slide locks

On the Itasca Horizon I have 4 slides. All are hydraulic HWH. The 2 front slides are the flat floor design and all that is good. There are slide room locks on the control panel that engage a hook type lock on the slide. They are located on the top of the slide and mid way front to rear. Left lock works, right not. On the left side the mechanism is enclosed with a plastic box and is inside an overhead cabinet. The right side is enclosed by an interior trim light box. The slides have slide toppers so extending them the locking mechanism would be covered by the topper and not readily accessible. With the slides in and using a flashlight and inspection mirror I can see the lock area and even observe the lock engage on the left side.

I would like to get the right lock to work and wondered if anyone had suggestions where to start the trouble shooting? When I engage the lock switch, nothing happens. No click, lock motor movement, nothing.

Thanks in advance

  • We have a 2006 Horizon, and sometimes one slide lock or the other will stop working. Here is what I have found. if you remove the black plastic cover in the overhead bin you will find the lock motor, with a screw shaft, and 2 limit switches. the motor is fastened with a pin and lock pin. remove the lock pin and the anchor pin, and let the motor drop a little. then have someone just bump the control switch. bump lock if it's in the unlocked state or unlock if it's in the locked state. if it activates, reinstall the motor pin and lock pin.

Here is how to keep it from happening again. Each time you either lock or unlock, at the end of the lock travel bump the switch the other way. This keeps the screw shaft from stopping hard against the limit switches.

    Works for me.
  • Thanks Doug. I have downloaded some of the HWH sites and trouble shooting info but didn't see any lock info. I'll do another search. Had my girlfriend engage the switch while I listened for engagement, I only heard clicking on the left slide in the upper area. I'll try again with me on a creeper and do a look/hear see.
  • HWH slide locks are engaged by a Magnetic pin switch located in the bottom by each rail. EACH lock has its own magnetic switch. Also, there is a slide lock controller involved separate from the Hydraulic pump system. Usually this control box is located in a storage underneath the Slide room. You really need to go to HWHcorp website and find your particular slide system and they will have detailed troubleshooting instructions for your model, Doug
